So, my group is already pretty into the game. Some WIPs and the beginning of a campaign.

Thanks!

Yeah, my group is really enjoying it. Despite the models taking some work, it's a really fun system.

Good to hear! I can’t wait to give it a go.

It's definitely a fun one! The first scenario or two will probably be a real slog because the rule book isn't set up very fluidly (there's not really an advanced section/starter rules/collected starter scenario, so you need to read through the whole thing), but once you get past that initial hurdle, it's pretty fantastic. Nice depth that's more about numbers than it is about special rules.

That’s a breath of fresh air coming from the other systems we play. Thanks for the run down!

Sure! Yeah, if you're used to GW-style piles of special rules and tables, or Kingdom Death's walls of text that amount to "roll a d10", it's not that. The closest game I can think of, in terms of rules elegance as strong variety supported almost entirely by core mechanics is probably Dominion (the card game), but even that probably has a higher rate of special rules.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

Lovely looking miniatures, you've done a great job with them!

Would love to get hold of Gloomhaven - I haven't yet read a bad thing about it. But, I can't allow myself to until I've opened and started painting my copy of Kingdom Death (which was bloody expensive! )

They're extremely different beasts, besides of course the obvious aesthetics.

(As I'm starting to articulate in a big ol' review...) KD strategy is really meta-oriented, looking at a high-stakes whole campaign, while GH strategy is mostly about individual turns and actions (and I think the game, unlike KD, would be almost as robust and worthwhile if there were just a bunch of one-shot scenarios...not that I dislike the campaign system).
