Squats Confirmed, 2018.

With this groundbreaking new army ready to hit tables next Time Boogey, the real question players are asking is not what sort of tanks the new faction will have or whether or not there will be female Squats (there will be, you just can't tell because beards) nor is the hot topic whether the faction will see a Fantasy type BloodBowl analog or not. Rather the big debate on the preeminent forums is whether or not Squats can become Space Marines?

On one side of the debate people argue that since Squats are abhumans and possessing either of the two genders humankind is blessed with then male Squats who are exceedingly epic may in fact become Space Marines since they fill both the requirements for becoming a Space Marine. Supporters of this argument point to Jervis Johnson and his terrible battle with alcohol, even going so far as to hack his Facebook and write nasty things on his wall. We are not sure why. Perhaps because an Englishman this stark raving mad deserves a little criticism? Who can say?

On the other side, dissenters say that Squats cannot become Space Marines because they have an extra ab that normal humans do not, namely the ab in abhuman. Mistakenly this argument was first thought to reference the stereotypical "beer" or "ale" belly that Squats are thought to have. Again, since this extra ab is often hidden by beards, the argument seems to come up short. When questioned further via Jervis Johnsons Facebook account, the creator of the notorious blog "Squat Lives Matter" simply linked a picture of Mat Ward, taken candidly of him in his London flat playing with a very nicely painted MLP Ultramarines army.

As this debate rages on, we here at dakka are forced to ask ourselves; how is Mat Ward getting Starshine Clippy Clops hair to translate so well onto a Land Raider? And is he airbrushing on that glitter or using actual glitter?

Per Gulliman's codex, only genetically pure humans are supposed to be chosen. Likewise genetic tests are part of the induction process to avoid getting their 'investment' ruined by having to shoot someone halfway through for being a mutant.

Abhumans are tolerated in Imperium society but banned from all the big important things like Space Marine induction and the Ecclisarchy.

*If* you need to justify it for an RPG you'll need a rogue Magos Bioligis. Cawl isn't the first one to try tinkering with the Space Marine creation process and the Inquistion has multiple case files on projects they've had to either purge or sanction. A good example was the use of a similar process to create super Imperial Guardsmen with genes from famous Imperial war leaders. It was a blatant attempt to replicate the success of the SPace Marines, but tolerated since so Primarch geneseed was used.

On the Pony note, there was a beautiful My Little Pony Chaos army at my local HobbyTown for years on display (long before the new cartoon). I'm still tempted to replicate it at times.

right behind you

I wouldn't object to cybernetically enhanced squats, but I don't want genetically enhanced squats as it seems more thematic to stick with metal, where their speciality is.

Just had a thought: Would a Primaris Squat just be a normal tactical marine?

When Primaris marines take over as only marines, GW is going to re-release stumpy marines as squats. That way they don't have to make new molds.
