I was reading the daemon codex, it says "Battle forged armies that is - Armies that include detachments of both chaos and daemon keywords."
So if i take a chaos space marine detachment, where some units only have <chaos> my army is no longer battle forged?
The main rule book says a battle forged army is any force where it is organised into detachments.
what me read wrong?

Automatically Appended Next Post:
nevermind im reading it wrong, its describing the detachment as being chaos and daemon, not the battle forged.

Sounds like it permits 'and/or' rather than requires both.

Battle forged in this context is two things.

1. That all detachments in the army share a common keyword (in this case CHAOS)

2. That all detachments follow the keywords specific to their codex or confine to the first paragraph (CHAOS with DAEMON for faction Chaos daemons, CHAOS and HERETIC ASTARTES and <LEGION> for chaos space marines, or a mix of CHAOS units)

Do note that codex specific traits are only available if the detachments follow the specifics of their relevant codex, with extra requirements for some codex's. e.g Mono god builds for Chaos Daemons

Your second point has nothing to do with being 'battle forged'.

For Narrative play, a Battleforged list has to have all units in (legal) detachments. That is all.

(Presently, this also means each detachment must have a common keyword amongst all the units therein because that’s how all the currently published detachments say they work, but this could change.)

Matched Play places an additional requirement; that all the units in the army must share a keyword too.

Further, some army special rules require that a given detachment have a specific keyword in common amongst all (or most) of its units in order to function.

(This is actually independent of being battleforged but it won’t hurt.)
