I know this has been covered, but I cannot find it (I admit, the Dakka Search function for forums seems next to useless to me). In any case, I am re-buying my White Scars army. I would like a company champion or ancient, or even veterans on bikes. They are in the index, not the codex. So, the designers commentary seems clear I can still buy from the index those units (or wargear) not in the codex The chart at the end of the designers commentary FAQ makes this pretty clear). Is this correct or am I missing a later change to this? Also, is it acceptable to include units from the codex and index in a single detachment as long as they have the same keyword (whit scars)?

Yes, you may buy a unit from the index if it's not in your current codex (or, buy options that were in the index for a unit that doesn't have that option in the codex). Use the most recent costs for units and equipment.

As long as you follow the flow chart to select the correct datasheet, you're free to mix index and codex datasheets.
