Does the Praesidium shield provide a 4++ inv save for the squad itself as well as the re-roll?

The rules for the shields state how they are ornate precursors to storm shields, and I know they provide the -1 to hit in CC and an inv save re-roll. But the Shield Barricade rule of the unit also provides models targeted by ranged attacks that pass through them a 4+ inv save. However from what I can read the unit themselves only get a 5+ inv from the refractor field. It seems weird their shields provide a better save for other units. I can understand that the rules don't say it gives +1 to any inv save, as in theory a shield tribune with a cyber familiar would get a 2+ inv (though I think a rule somewhere says it can't go above 3).

My only assumption is it's the fact there's an entire unit of shields that confers the better inv save to other units, but in theory even if there was only one member of the sentinel guard squad left it would still confer this bonus to others. I know a storm shield does give +1, and although these are precursors, nothing actually says "In addition to the rules to storm shields" for the other benefits.

thanks

Nope. The 4+ Invulnerable save is provided to units taking cover behind them, not to the unit itself.

Consider, though, that a rerollable 5++ is slightly better than a 4++ (55% to pass), so the Sentinel Guard do have a better Invulnerable save than the squad behind them. Unless it's another Sentinel Guard squad.
