A friend of mine is starting a Black Legion army. He just can't stand his Gray Knights anymore and has decided to flip.

I promised to share some fluff with him, but I'm having a hard time tracking down this one story about Abaddon.

It has him on the bridge of the Vengeful Spirit. He's walking past a gallery of captured Imperial Navy soldiers. One of them looks at him and is dealt with in the worst way.

Anyone remember the one I am talking about? Went through old Codexes, the Eye of Terror campaign book, other sources and just can't find it.

It might be in the Horus Heresy books from Black LIbrary.

If you want Abbadon fluff, you gotta read the Black Legion novels by ADB. They make Abaddon a really memorable, badass character, and do a whole bunch to characterize the legion beyond "Mustache twirling villains".

If I hadn't already been painting Word Bearers, the books would've made me paint Black Legion TBH

Thanks for the pointers.

This was definitely from before ADB's book and it's definitely not in there.

I have a feeling I originally read it online, which means it might have been from a White Dwarf.

It sounds familiar- I think it may have been a piece of fiction accompanying the Planet Killer's release for BFG in WD.

Games Workshop Delenda Est.

If you break apart my or anyone else's posts line by line I will not read them.

I found the most interesting ones of Abaddon were the first 5-6 books of the Horus Heresy.

You've misremembered. The ship is the Planet Killer and the captive is beheaded for daring to look upon Abaddon's face as he is making his way to the bridge.

The book is the BFG novel Execution Hour by Gordon Rennie.

You're welcome.
