As of lately, been thinking about starting out a daemon army for a local slow-growth league but unsure which army to go with? I am stuck between Khorne daemons and Slaanesh daemons. Can I get some ideas/help on what to get/do?

Khorne is a solid choice currently.

You have Skull Cannons for some much-needed ranged firepower, Skarbrand is solid if you build a list around him, blobs of lots of Bloodletters is always a great choice. You have to combine gods to become the most effective, however.

For starters, I'd do Khorne and pick up the starter box plus a Bloodthirster and another box or two of Bloodletters. After you have a good basic army for Khorne I'd take Tzeentch for much needed ranged help, or expand into Chaos Space Marines and start a World Eaters detachment if you wanna stay all Khorne.

I love my Slaanesh Daemons, until they hit the table top. They seem far too frail, with far too little hitting power. t3-4 models melt under their weight of attacks, but they really struggle with anything else (which seems to be most of the game at this point).

Thanks for the help, asked other people as well and they are saying Khorne as well.

Both Tzeentch and Khonre are solid, and do work very well together. Horrors in big blobs to erase chaff and hordes of DS Bloodletters erase what was behind the chaff. Season to taste with Demon Princes and shooty stuff.

No love for the Plaguefather?

I've been having a blast with my Nurgle Daemons since the codex hit. It is certainly a more defensive playstyle than Khorne. Depending on how you want to play, the green team can deliver.

Nurgle kicks ALL THE ASS... If you buff them right. Unsupported, they're durable, and that's it. Supported well, though, and you can mulch just about anything.

As another mono-Slaanesh player. Don't play Slaanesh. If I was a fresh player I would go with Tzeetch, then Khorne/Nurgle, then the Horned Rat, and finally then Slaanesh.

If your heart between Khorne and Slaanesh, start out with a few boxes of Bloodletters, a herald or two, and a daemon prince. The Bloodthrone is a killer HQ choice for its point cost.
