Exclusive Video Game Announcement: Mechanicus

If you’re a regular player of Warhammer 40,000 video games, you’ve likely led Space Marines against hordes of Orks, commanded Space Wolves in card-based battle or piloted an Imperial Knight into combat with the forces of Chaos. But you’ve got a whole new experience coming, and Warhammer Community has the world exclusive reveal of it, courtesy of Games Workshop Licensing and Kasedo Games!

Hail the Omnissiah! The Adeptus Mechanicus are set to make their epic video game army debut as a new experience comes to the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Get ready as turn-based tactical game, Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus, heads to PC, Mac & Linux later this year.

Mechanicus puts you in control of an array of Adeptus Mechanicus forces for the first time ever as you lead your priests and troops on a tactical quest to salvage ancient technologies from the mysterious tombs of the planet Silva Tenebris. As Magos Dominus Faustinius of Mars, your every decision will shape the missions ahead and have far-reaching consequences for you and your team.

In a brand new release trailer, the recording of a deceased Tech-Priest, Magos Dominus Reditus, is played showing his contempt for the weakness of human flesh, and his never-ending service to the Machine God.

In-game, Mechanicus will enable you to overcome these ‘human weaknesses’ to upgrade your troops with augments that will replace their human limbs with bionics and mechadendrites. These will provide mechanical and tactical advantages as you progress throughout the game.

Mysterious tombs? Maybe Necrons are the adversary here? Not sure if I would bank on this being the reality of the AdMech vs Necrons box set rumor though.

Vigo. Spain.

Is this the X-com kind of Warhammer game I have been waiting?

The trailer is very cool.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

Very cool, but also buyer beware.

GW is licensing to everyone, and not being as careful about quality as they should.

According to Steam:

DEVELOPER:
Bulwark Studios
PUBLISHER:
Kasedo Games

Bulwark only has one other game on Steam (Crowntakers) but Kasedo has a few.

How does it "look" like anything? All we have is concept art.

Most of Kasedo Games works on Steam have positive reviews, so it'll be interesting to see how this game is handled. The 40K license has been very hit-or-miss lately, with games either being terrible or decent. We haven't got any home-runs like Total War: Warhammer, but I think that it's still at a point where we can keep an open mind about the future of these games.

Besides, 40K + XCOM is just too good to pass up for me at least.

Doesn't look particularly intriguing so far...but I'm always open for new games so I'll keep an eye here.

From the few images we have available it seemed like a Tactical RPG, XCOM style, so I'm very curious about it.

How about they just give us Fires of Cyraxus? Just playing, I'd be interested if the game is any good. Never played XCOM but I heard good things about it.

Echoing the XCOM sentiment here, loved XCOM and would love to see a 40k game like it. Plus, I've got some AdMech boys at home that would love a vidya game spotlight.

Also Ben Counter is writing this. I think he did Legion, but what else has he written?

A lot of people like XCOM. My experience with it was that the micro-game was a ton of fun and a great turn based tactics experience but the macro game of trying to keep all the nations happy was an absolute chore. If this game mimics the former and ignores the latter I'd be quite interested in it.

Suppose I also shouldnt say that I liked Praetorian of Dorn then?

On topic though, I liked the dialogue bits of the trailer, and the design of the Arch Magos' Mask, I'll keep an eye on this one.

It's not Space Marines, so I've already got a lot more interest in this than just about every other 40K game out there.

And now I finally know, after all these years, that I have been pronouncing Omnissiah wrong... I was Om-nis-siah, whereas the video is Om-nissi-ah.

Anyway, X-Com with Mechanicus (if that is actually what this might be) could be utterly excellent, but as other point out GW computer games have a tendency of being hit or miss.

Same here.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

Why do they keep making trailers for video games that show no actual content of the gameplay?

TWW was one of the best selling total war games to date and is extremely playable. TWW2 is also an amazing game that is CURRENTLY being replayed over and over again with a healthy mod community as well. You have no idea what you're talking about.
