Hi people,

After a few years out, I´m back! I love the "new" rules. Especially pistols, split fire, and the elimination of templates...

Anyway, I have some questions before I go out to play.... Thanks for any help you give!

1. I got the Craftworlds Codex as I have an army... But I had the old Autarch, with the option of the Shuriken pistol or Reaper Launcher arms. I magnetised him/her to have the wings and arms as options... But in the codex it gives him VERY specific options depending on his wings or not, neither of which I ¨have¨. In the army points section it says to add up the points of his wargear and the R.Launcher is 22 pts. Can I equip it to him in a points game or must he be equipped as per the entry in the army section (Fusion pistol with wings for example)?

2. The Biel Tan Farseer Relic lets me reroll a failed Psychic test. The Farseer runes let me reroll one or two dice. If I use the runes to reroll one die or both and I still fail, can I use the Biel Tan Relic as the test was failed? (A die can only be rerolled once...)

3. Battle Forged Armies. I have some Harlequins... Apparently they are Aeldari like the Craftworlders... If I make an "Aeldari" Forged army, with mostly Craftworld stuff and a Craftworld leader, can I use Craftworld Stratagems, even if some units in the detatchment are Harlequins?

4. Marines´ plasma weapons.... The local gossip says that people are using zombie Ultra Marines to let off another shot when the dying marine is close to an ancient. If they shoot off an overcharged plasma weapon and they roll a 1, will they die as normal without further casualties or will another model need to be removed as well? (Thinking about the primaris hellblaster (?) marines as opposed to a tactical squad with only one of the gun)

.....

Thanks for any replies. I´ll be back with more questions....

1. Look at the last page of the Designer's Commentary in the FAQ section. It lets you use weapons that are available in the Index that aren't listed in the new Codex for models; you can use Index weapons (using the most recent weapons costs) for the Autarch.

2. Since you can't reroll a reroll, you couldn't use the relic if you used the runes to reroll.

3. You need a Craftworlds detachment in order to get Craftworlds stratagems. Your best bet is to make a separate detachment using just the Harlequins, so that you can get the stratagems (and other Craftworld bonuses) wiht the Craftworld detachment. Alternatively, you could make a small Craftworlds detachment while still having a larger Aeldari detachment.

That´s great, thanks!

I think #4 is self explanatory, they can pop an extra super charged with no fear as it removes the firing model specifically...

Hold on!

That means that I have to buy the Xenos index to see what other weapons "could" be available to the autarch!

That´s just cheeky!

It's well recommended for the old Autarch stuff. It's got 8th edition Harlequins rules in it as well if you're looking at using Harlequins. (Also whatever they're calling the Dark Eldar, but they'll be getting a codex soon enough. We'll have to see of some of their choices get the Autarch treatment.). It has Ynarri too as an alternate way to mix Craftworld and Harlequins (and DE) together. It may be a while before Harlequins and Ynarri get their own codexes.

It's because the two books have different purposes. The intent of the Indexes was to ensure the broadest spread of models had Rules going into launch of 8th. It's ideal for collectors like yourself. The Codex represents only the currently-available-from-GW range (and adds in updates, Stratagems etc.) so may well miss out old modelling options/models. It's the most up to date set of rules, so as per Designers Commentary FAQ yes, you'll need both books to use your army.

For me, the joy is in putting some good-looking models on the board and playing out a fantasy battle - not arguing over the poorly-made rules of some 3rd party who neither has any power over my play nor will be visiting me (and my opponent) to ensure we are "playing by the rules"
