hey guys new painter here. can someone give me the best way to create washes using Matt medium and flow aid?

I recently got into warhammer 40k and i'm really enjoying painting the minis but unfortunately it turns out that non of the art stores in my area sell washes of any kind. after reading and watching some tutorials, I bought some Winsor and Newton slow drying medium and Matt medium (it was the only brand sold. I didn't find any Liquitex) in order to make the wash. The problem is that different sources had different opinions of the best ratios of the products. for example, some said that half to half is the best while others said that 30% to 70% is better. also some said to mix a couple drops of flow aid with water while others said to add a lot more.
one more thing, I had trouble finding ink paints in stores (i only found one brand but it was expensive) so is it ok if i use regular black ink? or sould i just buy the ink paints?

To answer your question, your best bet is to experiment a bit. The ratio to use depends on your air temperature, humidity, palette composition, and paint that you're using.

Yes, a 2 oz. bottle of ink is a bit expensive - around $7 or so.

For a GW-sized bottle of wash, you're looking at ten to twenty drops of ink. That bottle of ink is going to go a LONG way. I use quite a bit of black wash, so I bought a bottle of black in some six years ago.

That bottle is still over half full...
