It is a remake of a cartoon called ReBoot...not understanding the purpose of this post...
Active armies, still collecting and painting First and greatest love - Orks, Orks, and more Orks largest pile of shame, so many tanks unassembled most complete and painted beautiful models, couldn't resist the swarm will consume all
Armies in disrepair: nothing new since 5th edition oh how I want to revive, but mostly old fantasy demons and some glorious Soul Grinders in need of love
Terrible idea, the reboot of Reboot. Obviously done to save money, because "computer animation is expensive". Maybe not do Reboot if you can't afford the animation for 100% screentime?
Or just dial the animation back to the point you can afford it?
Nobody wants real world people with real world problems in Reboot. We want cyberspace birthday parties with guitar duels and node juggling.
Honestly in this day and age did they really need to use the Reboot name? I mean in its day it was great, very cutting edge style in being all CGI before CGI was big. But today its hardly a powerful name or franchise. The only fans who will remember it won't like this one bit I'd bet (and most are going to be near or in their 30s or so so they are hardly going to want yet another teenagers from school save-the-world film).
Colour me unimpressed and hopeful only that I won't encounter its advertising or media enough for it to somewhat annoy me

It's got to be made in Canada (recognised a few genre actors who are Canuckistani ) - I seriously doubt any US high school would be named after a gay man, brilliant or otherwise.
I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...
... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.
As someone who grew up watching Reboot....this is absolutely atrocious. This is way more reminiscent of the multiple other 90's shows where the kids would go into the computer world matrix style with bad CGI than actually looking into the perspectives of the citizens who live inside the computer/mainframe. I much prefer the users/humans being seen as these god-like and almost uninteractable beings that occasionally drop in via game cubes.

It looks like VR Troopers lol.

Looks like another in the line of the current reboot trend, but this time it was apparently approved by dyslexic or confused studio executives.
Generally, don't reboots get pushed based on existing fandom and then expect that same fandom to be excited about, to promote, and to watch their movie? Also following the current trend - old fans that get their old favorite series crapped upon do the exact opposite.
Even worse, with this one the target audience doesn't even really seem to be old fans + new. This looks like it's geared towards kids... Kids who have no idea wtf ReBoot is - whose parents may have been fans, yet will be confused/angry as to why this knockoff trash is carrying ReBoot's name.
It seems like the studio decided to just jump on the reboot bandwagon for "me too" value rather than thinking this through.
If terrible reboots are the new trend, I'm going to write a script about Strawberry Shortcake set in a post apocalyptic setting with strong horror themes and a low budget. That will piss off old fans, confuse everyone else, and be SURE to bomb in the box office!
Why do studios keep doing these awful reboots? I know they're creatively bankrupt and risk adverse to the point of terror - but reboots outside of marvel and starwars have either been lukewarm or totally bombed. Investing in a reboot is now a risky proposition.
Could be good. I mean, honestly, this is the kind of reboot they should be doing. I'd rather see a second swing at something liked but ultimately locked in a specific time period than another souless remake of a high profile beloved franchise.
So I'll give it a shot. Liked Tron 2: Digital Boogaloo well enough.
Yeah but this isn't even what reboot was about at all. Reboot was basically the world of Tron without the users being pulled into their world. The characters were all programs living within the system.
This...
This is live action Code Lyoko. This is kids going into a computer to stop a malicious program.

Also the only thing I can see in the trailer that actually comes from Reboot is Megabyte. I didn't see any other character that I could recognise - I didn't even see the classic bluey/turquoise skin on the characters. Plus the old series was chock full of oddly shaped things; systems in strange shapes; icons or such. It's the sort of place where Pac Man would fit in without anyone batting an eyelid.
It's Reboot in name only, otherwise its doing what a lot of franchise reboots do - stealing the name, setting, a few characters and then smacking it with a totally different and new franchise. It's an attempt to take osmething that would otherwise be a "no name" series or film and give it an instant identity. It also helps those early viewing figures - even people who HATE this idea are going to tune in to at least "give it a chance" or to "see the train wreck".
Those early weeks are critical for any TV show - if they can gamble and chance it and get those high early viewing figures they can secure contracts for further series and work (heck take Firefly it didn't even get to finish due to poor viewing numbers*)
*granted in Firefly's case that was because of very nasty politics that resulted in it getting terrible time slots at different times and with its series released out of order0
I felt like I just saw the trailer for a Ready Player One TV series too poorly done that it couldn't get the rights and so they lazily rebranded it after a semi-novel tv show from my childhood in yet another thinly veiled rape of the culture of my youth in the name of capturing the attention of the kinds of easily entertained sorts of people who are into stuff like Big Bang Theory and.. well, Ready Player One.
I need to stop looking at geek media. Like, ever. Or maybe go outside for a while or something.

Do kids these days even get the megabyte reference? At least rename the villain to "Terrabyte" or something a little bit more up to date. Sheesh. Pentaflop, anyone?
Besides the terrible premise, CGI, acting, disconnect from the original series in all but name... the hacker villain dude was so unrealistic. Come on -- everyone knows that hackers don't sit alone in the dark, wearing a black hoodie, typing awkwardly and muttering to themselves. Not even a single shot of him engaged in pair programming in his mom's basement:

The original show's premise was much better.
A bit like Toy Story where we get to see what the things get up to when people are not around.
Then when people do show up, they are more like the weather or Gods, or natural disasters.
At least it is not a remake of Arrietty (The borrowers) where some teens get shrunk and save the day.

This is probably the real answer. This has been going on for a long time. Back when the original NES was a new thing, they'd make games - do all of the programming, then purchase an IP to slap on top of it - then change some character art. Now they're writing scripts, concept art, doing casting, setting up administrative and advertising infrastructure and deals and slapping an IP on top of it. Seems like they couldn't find or afford a more recognizable IP to smear on the top of this shitheap than ReBoot.
I don't know about that. They announced Reboot was getting a reboot way back in 2013. Really this reeks of an original if niche concept being reimagined to squeeze into the generic "highschool tweens save the world" show that is mass marketed to great success. I mean no denying the forumla makes money. It's just patently obvious the original audience of the first show is not the target demographic of the new one. I doubt any of us who remember watching it back on Toonami (that's where I think I watched it) are that many anyway.
