This one was from BOLS but they pointed out that the list builder and what not have room for the underwater race. The Idoeneth Deepkin.

Not sure how I feel about this to be honest but it will depend on what the models look like...

Idoneth Deepkin got mentioned in the Daughters of Khaine book...it didn't actually say they're "underwater dwellers" though.

Apparently they ambushed a bunch of Kraith that were coming to Alarielle's aid.

Also Daughters of Khaine can ally with them.

The assumption of them being underwater dwellers comes from their name combined with the gw teasers of the ship under water.

The book also says "sea beings" outright, there's another tidbit that says they were the first race of elves teclis tried to make but then he lost track of them

Does it? I haven't seen anything but the review tidbits that have cropped up--and I didn't see anything specifically calling them out as "sea beings".

It's all in the book my man, although if you even google Idoneth Deepkin the relevant passages will pop up at this stage

I had just started buying into Seraphon but if these new Deepkin look and seem nice I may move to them.

How does one lose track of an entire race? It's not like they're a set of car keys.

Lad I didn't write the fluff but I imagine it's something like a failed experiment, not being what they hoped etc

Several things pop into my head;

-First try means he might have oopsied on the abilities he gave them (like the ability to hide themselves from the bad gods).
-He thought them lost in the last set of chaos wars
-Teclis is a dick and they made a pact with another god for shielding from him.
-The equivalent of driving a car off a cliff with another body inside and your dental profile in their mouth.
-and Magic

Not a Guy Ritchie fan, I take it? Though to be fair, I was paraphrasing for the sake of the profanity filter.

Teclis lost track of the entire race. Lol. How archmagy of him, his head up his ass so far in otherworldly magicks that he loses track of a race. Teclis always was a dick. Emo dick, with his toughness of 2. I bet Tyrion used to smack his ass around when they were little princes.

I remember Teclis for having a staff with a scantily clad lady on the end of it. He never struck me as a man of the ladies, so to say. Always thought he'd be more into the otherwordly magicks equivalent of japanese tentacle lovemaking.

There's an old fantasy book where Teclis wakes up in bed with two princesses and then just gets up, goes about his day and they never mention it again

Concubines but yeah and they were just his favourites. The staff was a gift from the Everqueen.

But yeah in the End Times he was a colossal dick

Mortal Realms are big, you might think its a long walk down to the shops but that's nothing to the Mortal Realms.

I rather like the trident realms in kings of war so i'd be down with some strange underwater soldier types. Underwater elves... maybe? Underwater squid elves? that's a stronger maybe.

I've seen mention of them coming 'from the mists' so I think amphibious would be how to describe them rather than underwater.

Well duh, it was established earlier that Teclis is totally into that sort of thing.

Teclis sucks that's why.

I really hope they're an underwater race. I'd love that kind of race in my lore.

Suppose that makes sense. no rules for underwater battles yet.

I wonder if those Overlord outfits could work underwater.. If that's the case you could have Deepkin vs Overlords vs Fimir.. And most undead, don't think many need to breath and all that.

I've always liked aquatic theme. It seems they'll be evil - neutral aligned faction, to go against my perfect preference.

On the other hand, the light aelves could be really cool, now that I've given more thought into the potential concepts.

I have two theories about the Idoneth Deepkin.

1. As they are a failed experiment, Teclis wanted to re-harvest their souls to start again. They didn't want to die and legged it.

2. Teclis created them to guard over a deep sea prison where Slaanesh is locked up. He knows where they are, he's just not saying.

I'm hoping we hear more about them this weekend.

Underwater elfves? Very Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne 2003. But then GW has always like to incorepate Blizzards work into their lore. (Look at the tyranid range before and after Starcraft Broodwars.)

Anyway, cool to see an aquatic race. Perhaps we get some octopuses like in good old Ogre Battle. :-)

And vice versa. Blizzard borrowed a lot of ideas from GW.

I hope we get a giant crab instead of an opctopus.

Yes, this is well know. They actually aimed to get the game lincened by GW, but it did not pan out. ( https://kotaku.com/5929161/how-warcraft-was-almost-a-warhammer-game-and-how-that-saved-wow ) But Blizzard does the visual design so much better, and faster (electronic media has a faster pipeline the a slow mianture game) and Blizzard keep pushing the visuals and GW follow suit.

But if you wanne discuss artstyles and incluences, and there is nothing bad with being inspiered by someone else, I really think you should make a new thread about it before we go down the proverbial rabbithole.
