Hello,

Wanted to ask question about wraith-constructs or rather how much "will" it has and the possibility of it being tampered with.
I ask because for some time already there was an idea in my head in regards to starting my own Eldar army, wanted to add Necromantic flavor to them - what about an Spiritseer that created a small amount of Wraithguards to serve his selfish needs with which he left his Craftworld and became an outcast with his own little army to serve his goals. I am aware that something like this would put him high on priorities list for his Craftworld (as Eldar treat their dead very serious) but it's fine for my narrative.

Questions stands, would something like this fit the universe?

on the forum. Obviously

Well Craftworld Iyaden is a wraith construct heavy craftworld.

Iyanden is an Eldar Craftworld. Once the most populated and largest of the Craftworlds, it is now on the brink of extinction after being invaded by Hive Fleet Kraken. Iyanden barely repelled the attack, losing thousands upon thousands of Eldar warriors in the process. With so few remaining, Iyanden must now rely heavily on Wraith-constructs inhabited by the spirits of their dead, such as Wraithlords and Wraithguard, to form the backbone of its armies. Hence, the people of Iyanden are often referred to as the "Ghost Warriors". Despite suffering such a significant loss, the Eldar of Iyanden are determined that their Craftworld will shine brightly once again.

So I guess its fine? Like, if there was a rogue spirit seer, he'd probably be from there.

Why not? Sounds cool to me and it's a lot more imaginative than other armies out there.

I say go for it!

This is cool idea, go for it!

Though bear in mind that wraiths are not mindless zombies. They're full Eldar souls and do have mind of their own, albeit they're probably quite confused by their undead state and their perception of the reality is warped.

So the Spiritseer probably needs to mislead them or something. It is possible that the wraiths could rebel.

Well it's perfectly acceptable to make treemen conversions for Exodite Eldar wraith units, they even get dragons ffs!

So, why couldn't you have skellies or other undead type stuff?

I think it's a badass idea and you should just go for it. If someone showed up to play with an undead wraith construct army I don't think anyone would say no to a game.

Yep dead cool idea. I've got a bit of a thing for adding depth to eldar outcast groups.

For the qctual tampering, you could have it a couple of ways. Maybe the Spiritseer has lied to them, convincing them to follow their commands (i sort of view the eldar dead to be pretty suggestible to a trusted voice, sort of oike they're not entirely with it), or maybe they've actually tampered with their constructs somehow.

Maybe a bit of both. The first feels a bit culty, which is a nice touch would be good to do it as a bit of a twist to an Ynnari cult. Mine already sort of uses wraiths as propaganda tools

Thanks for so much replies so early!

I think I am going for it, the thought of Spiritseer misleading a bunch of undead wraiths is an appealing concept to me, and it's a quite easy to amass a decent force for cheap!

He is a Spiritseer, so he could manipulate the warp for them to see the world as he sees fit (kinda distorted reality - wraith sees a Slaanesh worshiper while he is in fact someone from his own Craftworld trying to set him free)

Nice idea. Maybe he spent a little bit too much "speaking" to the dead that made him insane? And that's how they know him?

The only question is now...

... What are you gonna use for constructs?!??

I sort of thought about keeping it simple with standard Wraithguard as template (though I wanted to convert it slightly) and some cool looking skulls I found in skull box as heads then covering them in runes.

You might want to throw in a few dark eldar bits too.

Haemonculus have been quoted as "gaining extreme entertainment from watching Iyanden's angst-ridden use of necromancy".

A wraithseer with an exploitative bent could do worse than seek guidance from the drukhari - either from texts or in person - as they probably have the means to compel a soul if required.
