I'm not a huge fan of the GW Howling Banshees so I set about converting some using the witch elves kit.

They aren't the most poseable of kits but they are very dynamic. Overall I'm pleased with how they turned out.

Wow! These are really cool! Especially like the use of the Scourge masks.

The sculpting and assembly is good, but half-naked Banshees don't really make sense to me.

I suppose they could be painted up so it looks like a really tight body suit?

I prefer to buy from miniature manufacturers that *don't* support the overthrow of democracy.

Thanks guys.

You're right Elbows, it wouldn't make a lot of sense. ScarletRose got it in one. They will be painted as if clothed in body suits.

Good work here. The plasti-card swords are really well done. Not easy to duplicate the way you have. Thanks for sharing!

Keeping the hobby side alive!

I never forget the Dakka unit scale is binary: Units are either OP or Garbage.

Thanks for the compliments.

@Tiberius501 I found the most important part of sculpting is having the right tools!

I purchased some Silicone tipped colour shapers for these and they improved my sculpting a great deal. These guys are still far from perfect but with more practice I hope to improve further.

I believe I'm going to steal that idea... that's pretty damned gorgeous.. though my one change would be using Harlequin weapons for the shuriken pistols and power swords..

Painting is underway, slow progress at the moment but progress nonetheless.

@Sauragnmon: using harlie swords and pistols would speed the conversions up a lot. I decided not to use them for three reasons.
1. Cost
2. The pistols might be quite large next to the slight witch elf bodies.
3. The swords are a bit spiky looking. Semi dark eldar/Drukhari like which isn't the look I was going for. Having said that It could still look really cool on darker looking Banshees.

Completed the Banshee Exarch a little while ago. The others aren't too far from finished.

Wow. Angry and shouty and amazing. The combo of grey with the red hair is particularly pleasing.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Stunning model, I love the pose, but do you intend to leave the gems grey?

Very striking indeed. I've always preferred the DE aesthetic over the Eldar, but this conversion sways me quite a bit. Do you have any conversions of other aspect warriors?

@Flinty Thanks! Good to hear the colour scheme works well.

@Kid_Kyoto As there are a lot of gems, I wanted to leave most of them grey to keep the scheme from looking too busy and to make the hair stand out. I'm calling it finished as it stands but I could make some changes if there's a consensus. What would you advise?

@youidiotkid Thanks man. High praise indeed. I converted some Warp Spiders a few years ago but like many of my old minis, they didn't get finished. I might re-visit them now my skills have improved a bit.

I did the same for mine, but went with heavier armour added.

It's awesome to see another take on the idea, and the result is really clean and cool!

Thanks guys.

I hope to finish the rest of these this weekend. The nmm has really been kicking my arse. I was fairly happy with the Exarch but the rest haven't been quite right.
For the latest attempt I've tried to limit the contrast to allow the highlights to stand out.

I'll post them when they're done, let me know what you think.

*Nice banshees PossumCraft. Good call on the pistols. Shuriken Pistols are too big for these models, I chose to leave them off all together.

I'm reluctant to call these finished as I'll no doubt find bits that need fixing/changing. But they're just about done.

They could really use another spot colour somewhere, I think.
Perhaps the blades, or the lumps on the legs. Something to give a bit more definition.

The hair could also use another highlight.

The glow effect on the eyes is outstanding, it looks fantastic.

I kind of agree, in that they look a bit flat. However, as banshees are ghostly spirits that often lack opaque definition, I'd say the overall affect is perfect.
If you cross your eyes and look at them a bit blurred, they look like ghostly spirits.

But I think a bit more color on the swords would indeed be the best of both worlds. But they look so phenomenally great, I might not even bother
