Subject: Last Days by Ash Barker [Skirmish, Zombies]
Ash posted some vids demoing Last Days on his channel. Here's the first one:
You might well ask yourself why you should care about yet another miniatures skirmish game featuring zombies. TBH I ask myself the same question, considering how much I like Mantic's TWD rules. Well, as compared to TWD All Out War, I think Last Days has some practical advantages: unlike Mantic's game, Last Days uses the "old reliable" D6s rather than annoying proprietary dice and Last days uses a maximum or twenty zombies (a major advantage if you insist on only using painted minis).
I played the demo of it he released for subscribers last year.
It was pretty fun. Has a nice noise mechanic that lets you see if zombies spawn. Pretty high chance once they get to you your guy is dead, so I enjoy the threat of that.
Kind of crazy its so far off

Osprey has done all original art for the game, but you can see my old commissioned art pop up in stuff I make (as I loved what Stephen did with it).
A lot of folks don't know Osprey is an arm of Bloomsbury Publishing (hence the distribution to like; every book store on earth). That's part of why the huge lead-time. Publishing houses announce books way off so major outlets (Amazon, Barnes and Noble, WH Smith, etc) can take pre-orders and get a sense of quantities they want shipped to their warehouses. It's kinda cool but definitely not what we as wargamers are used to.
Worth noting that the version going to print is a bit different from the 2009 and Demo versions that are online or floating about. There's a lot more Group design as well as settlement building going on in the game. That gets expanded too in the first expansion.
I'll be doing the Designer Chat thing as well as demos at Adepticon with Osprey this year, so come find me at Booth 403 if you want to talk about it!
More than happy to answer questions here as well of course.
Ash

You all don't understand. I'm not locked in here with you; you're all locked in here with me.
I don't film anything at Adepticon (or any Con really as the audio is always terrible) but I'll be there all weekend giving demos and chatting about it and other upcoming games!

@Ash, I wish I could attend the con. Real life keeps me from doing much travel. Anyway, I caught sight of your video reports from the past and was searching the title of your game and was quite happy to see it was going to be published. When there is a con here in the Tampa Bay Area I will do my best to go. Congrats on being published!
It is your shock and horror on which I feed....

Have fun and I hope everyone you talk to gets excited for Last Days!
It definitely makes a difference knowing what's gong on.

Thanks Corporal Chaos! I don't know when I'll be in Tampa but maybe at some other Con someday!

Even though I'm not really looking for a zombie game at the moment, I'll snag this one. Mostly because I love supporting smaller companies and indie developers.

Paying some goodwill forward on the chance that I can eventually manage to get my own game company going... long, painful, expensive process.
Seriously, though, I just ordered a copy on Amazon. Looking forward to it, and more videos (since you're the bastard that got me into Gaslands, Scrappers, Horizon Wars, and prolly a few others...)
