Need help with creating a Nid army. While clearing out some boxes found my Space Hulk box and decided that I may as well use the small amount of Stealers inside. So that means I have a grand total of 22 Genestealers and a Broodlord to start with. The question is what do I go with next? Looking for an army that is fun to play with, bit of an all comers list but not WAAC. I'm thinking some Warriors would be a good bet somewhere in the list. Been flicking through the codex and while there are some units I would love to get, they are more longterm.

Bruins fan till the end.

Never assume anything, it will only make an ass of you and me.

One big tip you'll get with Tyranids - MAGNETS

Warriors and anything bigger often have a lot of weapon choices which can take them from being close combat through to fully ranged platforms and a huge variety in the middle. As such many a tyranid player often uses magnets to let them change the arms and the socket designs of them let you do this fairly easily as well.

It's a huge bonus esp since new codex and rules can change not just which weapons are best or possible to use but also which choices are even legal to take on the model.

It gives you a lot of potential for variety - you might only need 3 carnifex on the table at any one time, but you'd need dozens of them to even have a small selection of the choices on offer in terms of what you could equip them with

Almost everything is good to great in the right list. You need to figure out what kind of play style your looking for and what sounds interesting to you and build from there.

Skim the Tyranid Tactica thread. It's full of good info.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

I agree with this 100%. I started magnetizing my Nids in 4th Edition. And it payed off so much. I would recomend getting at least one Hive Tyrant not only is it the best unit in codex but also a very versatile unit. Also good are Hive Guards, Neurothrope, Biovores, Carnifexes, and Exocrine.

But it depends on what style of army you what to play. More melee or more Shooting. Big bugs or a swarm of small and medium size.

Hive Tyrants are really good, and they MIGHT be the best unit in the codex, but if they are it's not by a large margin. There is a lot of great stuff in the nid dex.

Hm. I think they are definitely. An I'm sure they are in top 5 in the whole game.
