A couple of squads of Primaris marines from the Dark Imperium box painted as Space Wolves. Any comments would be appreciated. Seeing them up close on the screen certainly brings out a few defects! The bases need a little tidying and I think I went overboard with the snow sprinkles so a quick brush should bring that down a bit.

The Hellblasters are pretty vanilla with a few SW icons etc added. I was happy with the sergeant's face until I did the eyes - should have left the sockets just shadowed... There's no edge highlights on any of these models as I was going for a more natural look but a bit of selective highlighting might be in order though. I only weathered one of the marines but other than that this squad is pretty clean. I am not sure on the plasma glow. The execution wasn't great and I re-did them once. I feel it is a little overdone and a wider impact than I expected. the paint dried lighter and more opaque for the glow so I should have reigned it in.

The Inceptors are a bit more heavily converted. A lot of chopping legs and arms to change angles and greenstuff to fill the gaps. I tried using the clear plastic stands but couldn't get them all to form a firm bond so decided to cut my losses and use brass rods. I modeled one of the Inceptors to be coming in for a skidded landing. These guys are heavily weathered as I figure troops dropping out of the sky and then screaming across the battlefield to engage the enemy close up will have a few dings and scrapes. the engine glow I quite like and I did these after the plasma glow so a little practice (and more moderation) helped.

I'm not the most prolific of painters. In the 2 years since I picked up the brush again I have only managed 2 packs of space wolves, 2 Carnifexen and a few hormagaunts to a finished state (and then these models). Each squad I do is better than the last and I try and apply tips and tricks I've picked up from lots of places (including here). Any more tips or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks. It’s actually the Vallejo equivalents of The Fang and Fenrisian Grey. I start from black and use an airbrush to work up through the colours - finishing with a little pure white in the highlights.

Sorry for the slow reply. They're mainly Vallejo paints. There's actually 2 variants depending on whether I could use the airbrush.

Mostly it is Sun Yellow over light grey primer with an airbrush. Quite a few thin coats are needed. Then the edges are airbrushed very lightly with Burnt Umber. If I overdo the brown I bring it back down with another coat or 2 of Sun Yellow. Depending on the whether it needs it I then mix a little off-white/cream into the Sun Yellow for highlights.

For the trickier-to-reach areas it is Sun Yellow over grey primer with a brush, then Agrax Earthshade, then back to cream/yellow mix for the highlights. However I hate having to do it like this and wouldn't recommend it. The number of coats and trying to get it smooth are torture. I've moved on to using Vallejo Heavy Ochre for the first coat and then a couple of coats of Sun Yellow on top of that.

Great paint job, really nice look. Wish they would have been a little more wolfy.
