Checked out #2, it's tough going Index v. Codex in 8th, so I feel your pain. I love the narrative framing for the battle, but the photos... well, I'd prefer higher quality, even if it meant way fewer. Maybe a couple of top-down images to show the whole battlefield and a few sharp closeups of the key matchups and gamechanging moments.

Thanks for taking the time and effort!

Thanks for the feedback! I agree, I should probably prune out the more blurry photos next time. Either that, or get a proper camera instead of just relying on my phone.

Next report up soonish!

Just added a report from an Apocalypse game I played. As usual, criticism and feedback are always welcome.

Wow, big battle and a great report. Nice photos this time, too-- I like the shots of the full battlefield!

I think I'd agree with most of your takeaways... Seraphim aren't really great for tying up anything that puts out significant volume of overwatch fire or melee attacks, but they can (and probably should) tie up / force a Fall Back / hide in melee with a limited RoF shooty unit or vehicle. Two other Seraphim options to consider: keep them with Celestine to screen her and enjoy the 3+/5++ save combo, and find a way to get them some Inferno pistols. Equipped as they are currently, I'd say burninate some infantry and then charge a tank, but with close range melta they can probably pop a transport and then charge whatever crawls out of the wreckage. I had two units of Seraphim with Infernos take down a Baneblade recently (with a little help from heavy bolters across the table). There's a Shapeways vendor who makes pretty good "thermal injector" pistols for the conversion.

Tactically, I agree with your decision vs. Blood Angels to move up more cautiously with your melta Dominions on the pre-game Vanguard move EXCEPT that you went first. I'd absolutely do what you did when going second to limit his charges and get a good turn of shooting. In this case I'd have dashed for his front lines and tried to melt a couple of those Rhinos (one of them looked pretty melted to begin with?) before they could move, OR try to bust those Razors (S6 vs. T3 is a terrible matchup). As closely as he had his army packed in the center, an Explodes result or two would have been fun to watch, and with close range melta to soften them up, plus Exorcists and even heavy bolters to finish the job, you might have been able to really snuff his mobility in Turn 1.

So, definitely not trying to be overly critical... you played a great game and I'm impressed with the tightness of the finish given the Codex vs. Index situation we're so often in. Well played! Also, well-written... the narrative continues to be highly enjoyable. Thanks!

So, here's another batrep after an (admittedly long) hiatus between games. This is a report from a game played a while ago from when I was testing out the then-new Drukhari Codex. I've also updated the primary page to include links to 40k and Fantasy batreps from previous editions (mods, let me know if that's acceptable)

While I'm at it, I have a few feedback questions:

1. Should I continually update this page whenever I post a new batrep, or just post each batrep as a separate thread, as per normal?

2. Is my current batrep format (ie with me describing what happened and my thought processes for each turn) fine as it is? As an alternative, what are people's thoughts on narrative reports?

3. Are there any issues with the blog itself? Anything that you find lacking/unhelpful?

Feel free to let me know. As above, mods, let me know if I'm crossing any lines here.

From a selfish standpoint, I'd prefer just updating this thread, since it means I'll be pinged when you've got a new report Also since you're just posting a link to an off-Dakka blog it might be best to consolidate the posts as you've done here? Rather than a new post just asking people to click somewhere else.

Love them as is, just enough narration and thought processing around the game itself. Personally I rarely enjoy pure narrative reports (and so tend to skip them).

Mostly that I'm not following it yet?! The reading column is maybe a little narrow, but then I'm not using mobile, which it looks pretty friendly towards (admitting that wordpress most likely will dynamically shrink whatever sized column you used).

Anyway, thanks for more, jumping in!
