Somewhere in south-central England.

Stephen Hawking was predicted to die in his mid-20s, so he had a much longer and more successful life than anyone could have thought.

As well as the science and overcoming disability, he has appeared in a surprising amount of popular culture, most recently the revival of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy which started on Radio 4 last week.

I think Professor Hawking became an icon and something of a national treasure.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

We're not very big on official rules. Rules lead to people looking for loopholes. What's here is about it.

Was wondering what that ‘clunk’ sound was.

Born on the 300th anniversary of Galileo's death. Died on the day Einstein was born. And both he and Einstein died at the age of 76.

It's a cosmic coincidence that he would have enjoyed.

RIP.

There have been few people in life who so perfectly demonstrate how you can overcome the limitations of your physical shell if you have the imagination and determination to do so.

Hawking was a great physicist who could not only grasp some of the most complex ideas we currently grapple with, but could also find ways to try and share those ideas with everyone, so that everybody's horizons could be expanded by realising what an incredible universe we live in.

May he rest in peace.

The Laws of Thermodynamics:
1) You cannot win. 2) You cannot break even. 3) You cannot stop playing the game.
