Hi All,

Apologies if this has been covered, I scanned back a couple of pages, but couldn't see a thread for this.

Has anyone had any success with Bloodthirsters in 8th?

I have the big D-Thirster himself, but every time I add him to a list, I usually second guess myself and inevitably swap him out for a Prince.
I tend to play a lot of static long range dakka armies (Tau, Guard, Dev heavy Marines) so I seriously doubt he'll get to the front lines or survive a deepstriking if I fail that 9 on the charge.

Am I missing something obvious?

Forces of Chaos - (8,000 points Heretic Astartes (World Eaters/Renegade Chapters) / 2,000 points Chaos Deamons (Khorne Dedication) / 2,500 points Death Guard)
Xenos Hordes - (7,000 points Orks (Speed Freaks/Bad Moons) / 3,000 points Aeldari (Saim-Hann))

He can work, but you have to sink resources into him. With the armor of scorn and the +1 save strat he will either soak up a ton of fire or make it into combat.

You do sacrifice the skullreaper to take him though and a DP with that axe can do almost as much damage to high T multi wound models, and outpaces his damage on titanics.

Most important thing to have with a bloodthirster is threat saturation. If he is the only big target your opponent has to shoot his big gun against he will surely die and you wont get much out of him.

I think as above target saturation is the most important tool to use him. He can't be your only big and scary or he'll get focused down easily.

How about a big blob or two of bloodletters?

A few blobs of bloodletters are never a bad thing nowadays but that is not target saturation for the BT. Any Anti-tank guns your opponent brings are wasted on letters but obviously perfect for the BT so you need multiple thirsters, demon engines, etc. to force choices.

Yeah you want other big stufd like a GUO or Loc

Or a bunch of skull cannons. Something where the BY dying gives you a concecilation prize that something else lived, or gives you some form of garentee.

The BT absorbs damage like a champ with armor of scorn. However if he's the only big guy your opponent doesn't feel to bad that he used every Las cannon he brought on bringing he down, you disnt make your opponent chose.

If you play Khorne, no matter if you win or loose my friend as long as blood will flow! Khorne players always win regardless of the outcome of the battle!

Fair enough, but having your coolest model die before he swings every game sounds like the opposite of fun.

From what I read, Skarbrand can work if you completely base your list around him. Hes especially devastating to armies that don't want to be in CC.

That said, everything I gather (from here and talking to players) is its better to run 2 Demon Princes for the same price.
