Hi, I played 40k back in the 6th edition and would like to get back into the game, and would like to find a group or place to get together and learn the game and have a good time. I live in Providence, Rhode Island but can travel a few miles if it's worthy. Thanks!

Have you checked out 'Game On' in Warwick? They seem to get pretty busy on 40k game nights.

We have a very active crew in Malden, MA at the Hobby Bunker, but its about an hour's drive away from you which is probably a little steep. https://www.grimdarkgaming.com/forum/index.php Our forums are where we primarily chat and set up games. We play on Sundays at noon until 4-6pm primarily and will typically have 12-24 people coming out. We have a dozen tables and nicely painted terrain, these days while the weather is cold we regularly fill them all up.

Fairly casual community on the whole, but we do have some players who like the competitive tournament style. Since games are set up in advance, it's really easy to get the kind of experience you want out of a game of 40k, which is nice.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

We have a nice sized community in Quincy MA at Alpha Omega Hobbies. We have a Facebook page Alpha and Omega Hobby Community as well as a New England Horus Heresy group if you have any interest in 30k as well!

"I was never a Son of Horus. I was and remain a Luna Wolf. A proud son of Cthonia, a loyal servant of the Emperor."

Recasts are like Fight Cub. No one talks about it, but more people do it then you realize.

Armies.
Luna Wolves 4,000 Points
Thousand Sons 4,000 Points.
