Hi All,

Simple question really – If a character is in an open topped transport/vehicle/building/fortification can it use a stratagem that requires the character to have LoS?

I’m presuming so, because they can shoot by drawing range and LoS from any point of whatever they are embarked on, but I wanted to double check the same would apply to stratagems.

Example – T’au Fireblade embarked on a Tidewall Gunrig using the Sa’cea stratagem to drop markerlights.

Thanks!

U.k

I think that's harsh. I'd allow it but I'm not a rules lawyer type.

More specifically open topped rules can be very different for different units. You need to read the datasheets for what it allows.

By default units that are embarked cannot effect, or be effected by anything without specific permission.

It doesn't matter what you would or would not allow. Your own house rules are meaningless when discussing the actual rules of the game.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

This is the correct answer.

I think it's harsh my Marines ever miss their shots. Would you allow all my models to automatically hit?

Meh, ok.

At least it clears up that issue!

Thanks.

Hmmm, do they still roll to hit though?

Totally agree that the rules don't permit this, but house rules are NOT meaningless. They're fine to discuss here. What is meaningless is arguing RAW vs clearly stated HIPWI, as per the Tenets of YMDC.

For me, the joy is in putting some good-looking models on the board and playing out a fantasy battle - not arguing over the poorly-made rules of some 3rd party who neither has any power over my play nor will be visiting me (and my opponent) to ensure we are "playing by the rules"
