Looking at getting into Shadespire. How do you feel the balance between warbands is currently? Is there already a tier ranking in place for competitive play?

I play:
40K: Daemons, Tau
AoS: Blades of Khorne, Disciples of Tzeentch
Warmachine: Convergence of Cyriss
Infinity: Haqqislam, Tohaa
Malifaux: Bayou
Star Wars Legion: Republic & Separatists
MESBG: Far Harad, Misty Mountains

It's a little hard to tell because in all honesty, the warbands themselves are a little less important than the decks that support them. There's a degree of tiering, but its more of a result of what decks are prominent and which warbands best take advantage of those decks. There's also a lot of question on what caliber of play you're talking. For example, objective decks are really strong until people wise up and start putting counterplay in their decks.

My gut says Stormcast/Skaven are top, Orks and Skellies in the middle and Dwarves/Reavers on the bottom. The gap between those tiers is pretty small though and mostly comes down to things like "Skaven do the pure objective grab better than Reavers" kind of logic than any significant power disparity.

I voted too early to tell.

You definitely need all the cards if you want to have the *best* deck.

It certainly seems like some armies are more forgiving than others, though. If your dice are even a little cold, Sigmar gets wrecked, and wrecked hard.

Skeletons seem like the overall best faction, because they can control objectives effortlessly. I've also found the Orks to be solid.

Skeletons can be pretty brutal but if you get the Warden early on, the whole warband falls apart(no pun intended!) pretty quick.

I'm kinda/sorta on the fence about "needing all the cards"--what you need is hot draws really.

You should never be able to get to the Warden, period... Anyone who lets you get to him deserves to lose, and lose badly. It is incredibly easy to wall off and also keep him away.

As far as needing all the cards - some cards are flat out good. You can't have hot draws if you're not drawing hot cards.

I think the Skeletons are definitely a high skill warband. Its very easy to get countered or even play into your opponent's strategy with them; particularly in the mid tiers of player skill when people are mostly still reacting directly to player skill. A skeleton player with experience in what different warbands have to offer and a gameplan to counter them has everything they need to do the job though

I loved the Skeletons at first, but my new love are the Dwarves. Haven’t lost a game with them yet, but we don’t get to play a ton of games here.

Is it true that you basically needs to buy all the races in order to get cards to build your deck?

It gives you more options, and thus can make you more competitive, but no, it is not required.

Not required at all to get them all. There's a few super strong cards from each faction expansion but even if it was in your deck you might not even draw it which would be the same as not having that card at all. Having a couple expansions is ideal, but dont need all
