With GW planning to release all remaining codices this year, i wonder what changes people want to see going from index to codex?

Get us a good chapter tactic and some nice stratagem of course.

Such as something give bloodclaws run and charge, or something like +1 to hit in close combat. blahahaha. I might be dreaming

They probably won't be much different than they are now.

I expect them to get a chapter tactic that punishes the enemy for fighting them in close combat. Maybe just exactly the EC trait, or something letting units heroic intervention, etc. This would basically replace the old counter attack rules they used to have in 5th and so on.

Then I would just expect a few more psychic powers so they have 6, and 1 half page of strategems that mostly apply to wulfen, wolves, blood claws, etc.

More Attacks on just about everyone. Melee stat escalation has me looking at things like Thunderwolves and going "...is that it?", I'm aware Space Marines are supposed to be generalists and aren't supposed to beat specialist armies at their own game but plonking a Thunderwolf down and then telling me that thunderhammer is packing two Attacks hitting on 4+ just feels off.

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

While this wouldn't really follow the precedents set by other mono-chapter books, I'd kind of like to see...

* Sagas as pre-game stratagems that reward mid-game performance. So Saga of the Warrior Born might be a stratagem that costs 1CP when you deploy a character. Keep track of that character's kills over the course of a game. When the character has slain 10 wounds worth of models, the SW player gains 1d3+1 CP.

I think this sort of recaptures some of the intent behind sagas back in the 5th edition 'dex. Back then, they were bonuses for no mechanical drawback, but you were supposed to feel lame if you didn't meet a certain goal. Here, sagas become investments that encourage heroic (though not always tactical) behavior and reward you for pulling off stunts worthy of a skjald's telling.

* Gain <Great Company> keywords that unlock specific stratagems. <Sven Bloodhowl> Detachments might gain a stratagem that grants a unit 4+ FNP against flamer attacks, for instance, or <Ragnar Blackmane> might be able to spend 3CP to grant +1 Attack to any units that charge that turn.

Just spitballing.

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.
