Now with the official release of Legion, how bad is the scale compared to imperial assault and old WotC figures.

I have seen the older pictures but has anyone compared the AT-ST and other figures showing the scale difference?

Pretty much 32mm to the eye, maybe even 35mm.

They are larger than previous figs, they look most like a "heroic" proportioned 1/48th figure. Snapped a scale shot as I was building my core set

Rebel (IA), Luke (Legion), Fusilier (Infinity) Rebel (Legion), British Soldier (1/48th model kit), Stormtrooper (Legion), Stormtrooper (WotC), Rebel Pilot (WotC)

We'll find out soon enough eh.

What weird size are those squares, half-inches or something? Anyway, looks like 1:48 is a good approximation scale-wise, so if the Legion T-47 does end up on the small side there is at least a kit out there to replace it, though it ends up maybe a bit more expensive(FFG one will be about 22 quid + shipping, the Bandai 1:48 kit is either 35 quid delivered off ebay from a UK reseller, or about 20 quid + shipping from a Japan-based ebay seller but with the risk you get hit by customs). Sadly there doesn't appear to be much beyond that, an X-Wing and an AT-ST seems like it. The Legion AT-ST looks about right anyway, but it would have been nice to have access to other fighters and vehicles in the right scale for use as terrain without having to resort to building completely from scratch with papercraft templates.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"Your society's broken, so who should we blame? Should we blame the rich, powerful people who caused it? No, lets blame the people with no power and no money and those immigrants who don't even have the vote. Yea, it must be their fething fault." - Iain M Banks

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

10mm squares, probably; at least, very cutting mat I've ever seen has 10mm squares on it. Apparently not; see below.

As for vehicles, Disney sold die-cast models of Rey's speeder bike and the First Order recon skimmer (open-topped, pintle-mounted repeating blaster and four seats) that are roughly the right size; I picked them up for Infinity. The speeders that WotC sold in their prepaint range might work too, if you can find any.

Thanks for the picture Kalamadea!!

That really cemented me not getting the set, I returned back to college and my game fund money dried up so have to
be very selective on things I get. Already have a ton of stuff for IA and WotC minis that are close to the same scale.
Passed on 8th edition 40k; I guess I will do the same here...but I am sure I will find something to spend my money on..

And I think the picture is half inch squares by the markings towards the bottom of the picture.

Waiting for my shill money from Spiral Arm Studios

Any Imperial Assault or WOTC models will be a little short for storm troopers, but they are passable for the game if you want to use them.

mat has 1/2" squares

If you want alternative snowspeeders, somebody posted on facebook that the Bandai 1/48 speeders are 110mm wide wingtip-to-wingtip, FFG are 100mm and the Revell 1/53 are 89mm. The WotC speeders I have are 91mm wide and the Micro Machines Fleet Action snowspeeder is 110mm wide, should be a spot-on match for 1/48 and are around $15 USD on ebay. I haven't seen anybody compare a WotC AT-ST yet, but the FFG are even bigger than the 1/48. I figure the WotC should be close enough I'm not going to worry about picking up any of the FFG ST-STs or speeders, all the unit cards and upgrades are up on the Imperial Admiral armybuilder
