Hey Dakka Dakka,

I’ve been developing a game called Nexus with a friend of mine. A bunch of people that have experienced our game tell us that the Dakka Dakka community might be interested in it. So here we are! We are going to run some ads here wanted to let everyone know I’m the one behind the ad and I can answer questions. I look forward to hearing from you all.

Logician Tim is a blogger who did an interview about our game development. It's going to be an ongoing series. You can check it out here.

Hey, that's me!
If you have never read a designer blog before, basically it tells the origins of making a game from an idea all the way to actual production. The Nexus designer blog has it's first entry and you can expect a new blog entry every Thursday.

Check it out and leave me a comment there. The link is in the post above.
Thanks!

I hear there aren't any tape measures involved, and there will be inappropriate humor. Can you guys share any more details?

If I had 100 + Drukhari kits all in plastic to choose from, or 100 + Sisters kits, I think I'd be more likely to be receptive to Space Marine player's complaints about anything.

I don't want the best army, just one that isn't an exercise in picking up my models by turn 3.

@CynoshureEldar That’s right the game is not a traditional skirmish bout, the game will play out on a chess board grid format and players will spend action points each turn for movement and action. It’s a mashup of rpg/skirmish mechanics integrated into a checker/chess board. I’ll elaborate more on the inappropriate humor question. A couple days ago we received feedback from another Dakka user where they expressed their concern that if the comedy falls flat it will make or break the game. They’re right and we have been aware of this risk from the beginning. The game is not an outright humor game. We wanted everything to be exaggerated in a pulpy sense. Owning that gave us more freedom to include crazy ideas into it. Another Dakka user mentioned “Paul Verhoeven”in a feedback response. Absolutely spot on assessment. The humor is very “Robocop-ish” where there is an overarching dark social commentary being played out and then accented with some not so subtle graphic depictions and ideas. Nexus is not for mainstream consumption, but the people who like it will be the ones that “get it” and can identify where we’re coming from.

Sounds like fun to me! Keep the updates coming! I'm sure I'm not the only one keeping my eye on this project.

Hey, it's been awhile since I've posted but I've been really busy on the game and had a great time doing demos at Origins Game Fair. We're releasing You Tube content here https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC9pcnYldBPE8vkQwWWZSmfQ
Also our Facebook page and Facebook group "Cute & Fluffy" are getting alot of interaction and we're building a community. https://www.facebook.com/nexus.dverse

Currently I'm diving into creating a Solo mode for Nexus and preparing for our Kickstarter and Gen Con! Everything is coming along nicely!

I'm looking forward to hearing about plans to make the game more affordable, I think you guys made the right decision to re-work that and then relaunch. Take your time and get it just right, and now you've got a group of folks to solicit feedback from, too!

@RiTides

We appreciate the nice comments regarding our decision. We are re-launching this morning at 11 Eastern. We think we really have some nice price points and much better pledge options. Thanks for the support!

Do you guys have plans to make the terrain as an optional add-on? Those columns could be useful for other games.

As of right now we don't have concrete plans on making those available as an add on but we do see the potential of using those in other games.

Cool, maybe something to consider down the road. Those columns have a lot of character, good luck with the campaign!

Absolutely, we will always keep everything on the table for consideration. Thanks for the well wishes!

Here is a link to a video that has us summarizing our development of Nexus. We even show 3D printed prototype components and explain how the game changed throughout the development. We also explain core goals we had from the outset of the project.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWTB8x4s6S0
It's thirty minutes long but if your interested in game design then it may be worth a look. It also has chapter shortcuts so you can just skip to a subject your interested in.

Here's an update. Our Kickstarter raised $54,000 of our $100,000 goal so we've created a web store of our resin miniatures for the time being. It's probably frowned upon putting a direct link to our web store, but our website is https://d-verse.com/nexus/. There we are offering all our components individually though the hazards are packaged in sets of 4.
