With the plastic sister announcement and an recent opportunity of me getting an unpainted sister army for a decent price, I started to think of using SB as allies for my GK.
Besides the unfortunate wardian accident everyone knows about have there been instances of SB and GK cooperating? Any particular order with an history of working together with GK? Similar to how Deimos is AdM but cooperates with GK

That's from the GK omnibus.

It's... not a great read.

On a similar note, has anyone read any books that are actually really good, involving Grey Knights? So far I've read:

NOTE: Please don't let my opinions of these books affect you when deciding to read them or not. Pick it up and check them out first!!!

The Alaric stories (just... poor writing)

The Emperors Gift (not bad, but lead character behaves like an impetuous kid, not becoming of a Grey Knight, couldn't get into it)

Crowes book (Also not bad but very shallow story, just Marine hack n' slay... and walking castles )

Watchers of the Throne (GK feature only briefly)

Other than that I'm not aware of anything in print featuring the Silver boys. Anyone have anything for me?

They were in one of the Uriel Ventris novels. Killing Ground I think?
I can't comment on the quality though.

Pretty much all of the (admittedly few) 40k books I've read have been pretty bad.

Dead Men Walking was pretty good, but it had nothing to do with GK.

Dead Men Walking was shockingly good. One wonders if a concept like the GK has much room for good storytelling. They completely excel at their work. They are incorruptible. What kind of dramatic conflicts would they even experience?

Yeah, you're right. I'm probably underrating it.

Good review by the way. Makes me want to thumb through my copy again.

I think the Grey Knight novels had some internal conflict about whether Grey Knights are inherently incorruptible or whether it's just their training. I'd go there for drama.

So, whether they are born perfect or achieved perfection? Doesn't sound very dramatic.

More whether they're made perfect or have to constantly strive for it. So it's 1/10 drama which is slightly better than nothing interesting.

grey knights aren't impossiabler to have drama with, go read the emperor's last gift.

I wasn't impressed by it. It relied too much on the Inquisition causing drama.

I have. Most of the drama is from people being incompetent.

The most interesting piece of GK fluff I've read is The Changeling's entry in the 7th Edition Daemons Codex. They were more interesting when they were the Ordo Malleus' enigmatic Chamber Millitant; the 5th Edition reboot turned them into silly Mary Sue cheeseballs.

I don't recall an incidence in fluff of the SoB and GK working together successfully, but you could always make one up. It's a big ol' galaxy, after all.

Hardened Veteran Guardsman

Tampa, Florida

There is one novel I read that starts with the Grey Knightskilling a bunch of loyal guardsmen and battle sisters who are unwittingly protecting some tainted governor. (I read this a loooong time ago.) After the Grey Knights wreck about 90% of the IG and Sister’s the head Grey Knight cones face to face with the Canoness leading the ladies. She immediately recognizes who and what he is, orders her Preceptory to stop fighting, and joins forces with the GK’s to wipe out the denizens of the warp. Somebody crashes a spaceship, a lot of people die, and Chaos loses.

More importantly for your purposes, in the 3rd edition Witchunters and Demonhunters codexes it was perfectly normal to ally them with each other long before allies was a thing in 40k, so you’re good to go from a fluff perspective.
