I am planning on building a Daughters of Khaine army but I haven't played Sigmar in a long while and don't know what the going normal game size is. I want to aim for that since last time I just bought far more stuff than I could ever use in a game by aiming to fill some Battalions. As in a small forest of Sylvaneth. As funny as it would be to do the same and for my opponent to go full Samuel Jackson that's not going to happen. Plus I'd like this to be more of a painting project. You cut corners if you want to get a 100 dryads painted.

I'd like to know how many points I'll be getting so I can see what stuff I can fit into the army and weigh that against whats cool and what works.

Starting Sons of Horus Legion

Starting Daughters of Khaine

2000pts Sisters of Silence

4000pts Fists Legion
Sylvaneth A forest
III Legion 5000pts
XIII Legion 9000pts
Hive Fleet Khadrim 5000pts
Kabal of the Torn Lotus .4000pts
Coalition of neo Sacea 5000pts

From what I can tell 2K points is around the standard for most places. Of course if you only build 2K points that gives you only one army list, but you can always use that as a core to build from. Morathi herself costs 480 and the two cauldron versions are 300+. So if you throw Morathi and a cauldron in that's already well onto 800 points done.

Yeah so 1200pts I'll struggle to scrape together 3 battleline units without losing out on cost savings and big unit buffs. I am not even sure I would get the full spread of units I want.

Morathi
Cauldron
10 glaive snakes
2 x 5 bow snakes
2 x 5 khinari
20 witches
Gorgon

I'd have to split up the witch or glaive block which would weaken the army.

Tournament standard is always the standard which is 2000 pts.

That doesn't mean you can't enforce a new standard for your play group. I write campaigns that range from skirmish to 1000 points to 2000 points.

My local club don't play AoS. Old guard. So if I want to play AoS its a question of going elsewhere or even to GW which means you can't realisitically arrange points in advance and so I'd like to have the normal scale army.

2k is the normal size but me and my group just recently found out we should actually be playing at 2500 since that's considered a "big " game

To many unpainted models to count.

How many euros is a 2k points of Aos (compared to a 40k army) ? More specifically a DoK army ?

2k is the standard size. Usually what I see is that a 'complete' collection for an army will include 2400-2800 points that allows for some variation in 2k lists. Obviously that varies and for some players it goes much larger, so I'd say that aiming to have 2500 points total for your army of choice is good since it lets you vary up 2k games while being able to play a 2.5k game here and there too.

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

Depends on your composition.

I know it's a cop-out answer but it really does depend on what you're building and how much of it you can get discounted.

For example, the list I'm building towards could be cheapest at $750 CAD, something like 490€. But that'd be getting only one cauldron of blood bundle and buying four more witch elves boxes separately. If I swap out those two witch elves boxes for cauldron bundles the overall price is up to $850 but I'll have more generic HQs and have more general wiggle room to vary my list.

Standard AoS game size? 2,000 like others have mentioned. That said, the game scales down well. In my slow grow league we started at 500, 750, 1,000, and are now at 1,500. They have all been a lot of fun and draw from a broad pool of factions.

I... have yet to find a single game of that size. IMO the meta is more split along the lines of 1k and 2k.
