Hello everyone, I am returning to Infinity and am looking for some advice (been a looooong time since i played).

I was wondering if you guys could suggest some forces, how they play, stengths and weaknesses so to speak, and a good place to start model wise (money isnt an issue)

Thank you all.

What exactly are you looking for in an army? I can talk to you until I'm blue in the face about "how they play"--it won't really matter since it might not be how you decide to play them.

If you're just looking for an army to start? Then you can't really go wrong with The New Hotness in the form of Uprising and its Non-Aligned Armies(NA2) that will let you play mix and match for two of its factions(Ikari Company and StarCo), use a relatively new set of sculpts in the form of the Japanese Secessionist Army, and the Druze Bayram which is...interesting.

It's a Mercenary Company featuring these as the "basic" troop type:
Spoiler:

Right now, they don't have any kind of "starter" product for Ikari Company, StarCo, or Druze Bayram. There's a Big Box coming soon-ish for Japanese Secessionist Army(it basically gives you like 200pts worth right off the bat) and the next three months will have two more boxes released for them. Couple that with existing JSA products(O-Yoroi TAG, Shikami, JSA Support Pack, Domaru and the Yu Jing Remotes) and you basically have a range right off the bat.

Kinda/sorta?

Army has the lists under the NA2 tag at the very end.

As it stands right now I'm advising people to stay away from Druze. I have a sneaking suspicion that the two player box we're getting hints of for GenCon is going to be Tartary Army Korps(TAK for short; it's the Russian ethnic sectorial for Ariadna) versus a "Non-Aligned Army" starter that can be bumped over between Druze Bayram, Ikari Company, or Qapu Khalqi--since all 3 of them can use the same general setups. The only difference is that Qapu Khalqi does not have the Camouflage and Hiding("CH"): Mimetism Druze profile with its MULTI Sniper Rifle.

It's not a popularly accepted theory at the moment with quite a lot of people shouting on the official forums that it has to be "two new Sectorials" in the rumored two player starter, which was mentioned to be "like Operation: Icestorm" by Bostria at Adepticon and he said that two of the new things would "have to be released together" since they had 5 Big Releases planned(we've gotten three of them revealed so far. Tunguska, JSA/Uprising, and the Druze Sectorial got revealed right around the end of the year last year--so we have 3/5 releases and 2 to go but 3 items in the form of Tartary Army Korps, Varuna[PanO Counterterrorism Sectorial] and Vedic[ALEPH Black Ops Sectorial]).

If you like the Druze though, you might want to take a peek at Ikari Company. It would make the new JSA Army Pack something that would be a decent investment for you just getting back in. It opens up two potential avenues for you with Ikari Company and the JSA itself.

Formosa, start here https://catalog.infinitythegame.com/

Figure out which factions have the minis you like, and then ask about them.

"I like all of them" may be a valid answer, but not such a helpful one.

Yeah, there's only so much advice/help I can give without at least having a basic idea of what you're looking for.

Formosa, I would really suggest just choosing a faction starter set that you like the looks of and trying it out. While there are a lot of differences between factions, most factions are broad enough to do most things to some extent. You won't limit yourself into one play sty;e by choosing any one faction (although many of the sub-faction sectorial armies are more limiting).

Best advice for first choices: PanO, Yujing, Nomads, Haqqislam, Combined Army or Tohaa starter sets*. These are all basic factions. the starters contain 6 models that give you a taste of what the faction can do. You can play small games with each out of the box or easily add 3-6 additional models to play larger 300 point games. Each of these factions also has sub factions called sectroial armies with their own starters that you can try out, but I'd recommend starting with a full faction first and then maybe narrowing in on a sectorial that you might be interested in later.

Starting with small games and seeing what you like, then growing your collection, is a smart choice.

*Tohaa and Combined army are often considered to be tougher armies to learn, so keep that in mind. Ariadna and Aleph are also available, but both of their faction starters are expected to be updated soon, so you may want to wait.

Read up on the fluff, take a look at the armies or playstyle, then choose the one you liked the most. Then come back and ask for advice.
