I tried following up on Warmahordes when third edition came out but since nobody is playing in my area and life happened I stopped following Warmahordes. Well the other day I was in my LFGS in a long time and saw the Hordes box set for $70 Canadian. So I picked it up because I liked the Troll leader mini and the elephant mini. I was a bit shocked when I opened it up how cheap the minis looked in the bag. Guess I was use to GW on sprues, then remembered GW minis look cheap as well. Curious why the box is so big when you have card board filler taking up half the box. I guess box needs to look better at MRSP is my guess.

I see good quality in the books though. I see there are cards in there as well. Since I will not be playing I still want to restart collecting Hordes again. So just in case I can get a game in if I decide to travel or someone else plays it one day I like to know how to learn Warmahordes.

By that I mean are cards valid still? I thought I read something that PP doesn't do cards anymore and it's all online. Is this true? Or is it through an app? How valid is the paper rule book? Is it still valid and I just find the Errata/FAQ? or do I need to get the Hordes PDF manual that is free from PP? Or am I wrong here. Also is there codex books or what ever they are called in Warmahordes. I never knew the name there.

I have old second edition books for some armies so I can use them for fluff. Is the fluff changed or is it basically the same? Not sure if I should just get the cards or should I get the new books as well.

This will be a slow ongoing project for me, but I just want to make sure when it comes to gaming I can be prepared around summer time when looking for games.

Cards are essentially invalid. They change somewhat regularly so they're not a reliable source. The app is the easiest way to play, but you can also print out the latest from here:

The core rules can be found here:

There's nothing really like a codex anymore. There's books and issues of No Quarter dedicated to the fluff of an army, but nothing you need to buy to play the game.

Thank you so much about this. I didn't know the cars are invalid.

Yeah, that has been a big change for me too coming back into the game. At least they offer them do you can print them out. I personally hate relying on the app. Had an opponent's tablet or phone lose power too many times in a game.

The cards thing is a bit of a pain but the PP site has a database that'll generate PDF for whatever you need, either to self print or get a online print company to do

I'm with NH on the app, its handy for list building but having to buy each faction separate is a tad cheeky, and card sleeves and marker pens are far less faff than trying to enter dmg on app

App damage is a lot better if you use the slider instead of poking the dots individually. It's particularly nice for warbeasts, though nothing about the spirals has ever been a great idea.

I think the full faction bundle is pretty hard to turn down. By the time you buy your stuff, mercs, minions, maybe another faction, the cost is almost there and its nice to be able to research opposing models from time to time.

True, I mean, all I did to make my lists was pick a theme or two, and download all the cards the theme can take from PP's website. That seemed to work well enough for me.

That's totally valid too; I've just largely switched to digital wherever I can. I just play a lot of games and managing cards and books for them eats up a lot of time I'd rather spend painting or playing.

I do keep a backup battery with my just in case, though so far the only time I've used it was when I got to the shop and realized my daughter had ran the tablet dry.
