Looking to get back into the 30k scene.. Looking at starting Iron Hands any recommendations which way to go with this legion? i.e Armour heavy, Troop heavy, maybe a balanced list?

Lots of info out there but id like to know from someone who played them or against them often.

Cheers

Hi mate! Iron Hands are a excellent legion to get back into the game

What sort of list do you normally enjoy playing?

A Song of Ice and Fire - House Greyjoy.
AoS - Maggotkin of Nurgle, Ossiarch Bonereapers & Seraphon.
Bloodbowl - Lizardmen.
Horus Heresy - World Eaters.
Marvel Crisis Protocol - Avengers, Brotherhood of Mutants & Cabal.
Middle Earth Strategy Battle game - Rivendell & The Easterlings.
The Ninth Age - Beast Herds & Highborn Elves.
Warhammer 40k  - Tyranids.

I love the idea of a tank focused list (commamder Orth in falchion behind enemy lines), maybe throw in outflanking vets? we play semi comp

Iron Warriors get IWND on tanks I think? A heavy tank list would fit with well the Iron Cult. There's some excellent options in Heresy, A Sicaran Arcus is fantastic and has loads of options in which missiles you takes.

Medusas rain the pain from the skies and can hide out of LoS using equipment on your tacticals for LoS. Vindicators with Laser Destroy Arrays or Sicaran Venators shred tanks and your basic Vindicator with a demolisher cannon does a good job as ever at making holes of the enemy.

Out flanking vets with some combi-weapons are never a bad choice to take .

Warhammer 40k  - Tyranids.

Main thing is to take what you like and make an army out of it, as a returning player I am sure you know that the legions were not as simple as "thats the shooty one" etc. so why not try going heavy CC with Iron Hands, Flyer spam Iron warriors etc. have fun with it !

Ferrus is a great Primarch though, he's character has really grown on me over the course of the books.

AoS - Maggotkin of Nurgle, Ossiarch Bonereapers & Seraphon.
Bloodbowl - Lizardmen.
Horus Heresy - World Eaters.

What books are good to learn more on how the Primarchs are? I only really know about Russ as he's my Legion Primarch.

Well, if you follow the Horus Heresy series certain Primarchs appear in different books (The First Heretic features a lot of Lorgar, Betrayer features a lot of Lorgar & Angron) etc etc.

Give Black Library a search if you want books that feature specific Primarchs. There is also a Primarch series that feature stand alone books on specific Primarchs.

A Song of Ice and Fire - House Greyjoy.
AoS - Maggotkin of Nurgle, Ossiarch Bonereapers & Seraphon.

My mate Carl does them he went tank heavy with a couple of sicarens as fixed units with preds and contemptors being regular sights.

They are a cool legion to face off against.

No reason you can not rock your Primarch.

In Master of Mankind his ghost fights in the webway with the Emperor, so you an do a Legion of the Dammnd Ferrus.
