Hi! Totally new to using Scions, or any IG for that matter, so i just had a few questions - sorry if they're dumb!
From reading the codex, here are my questions:

Militarum Tempestus Scions
1. "For every five models in the unit, up to two other Tempestus Scions may replace their hot-shot lasgun with a flamer, meltagun, plasma gun, grenade launcher or hot-shot volley gun".
So, if i'm reading this correctly, you need to have at least 7 scions in the unit in order to have two plasma guns? No five-man units with 2 plasma guns in it, right?

Tempestus Scions Command Squad
2. "One other model may take a platoon standard" + "Up to four other models may replace their hot-shot lasgun with a flamer, meltagun, plasma gun, grenade launcher or hot-shot volley gun."
So one guy can either take a standard OR a plasma gun, but not both, right? Meaning a unit with 1 standard can only have 3 plasma guns?

3. In battlescribe, taking more than one Command Squad in my Vanguard Detachment makes the list invalid - are you only allowed to have 1 command squad per detachment? Or am i just doing something wrong in battlescribe?

The only dumb questions are the ones you don't ask.

And the dumb ones, but still...

From reading the codex, here are my questions:

1. "For every five models in the unit, up to two other Tempestus Scions may replace their hot-shot lasgun with a flamer, meltagun, plasma gun, grenade launcher or hot-shot volley gun".

For every 5 Scions you take, two of them can take a Special Weapon.
So your 5 Scions can have 2 Plasma Guns in them.

Yeah, if you take a Platoon Standard you only get 3 Plasma Guns.

3. In battlescribe, taking more than one Command Squad in my Vanguard Detachment makes the list invalid - are you only allowed to have 1 command squad per detachment? Or am i just doing something wrong in battlescribe?

Battlescribe's telling you to consult your Army Book.

Scion Command Squads(and Command Squads in general) are 1 per Officer keyworded model. In this case, you need a Tempestor Prime as your HQ.

You're quite welcome.

Are you planning on running just Tempestus or are you planning on running them as part of a Guard force? You might want to consider running a Patrol or Battalion of Scions since they'll be able to get their Stormtrooper trait if you do that!

The "Up to X other" is in relation to the option(s) above.
1 may have a vox caster, up to 2 others can have a special weapon (aka someone that did not chose to get a vox).

Page 132 in your codex has an extra match play rule that limits command squads.
Its easy to miss because its not in the actual army list.

We put rules questions in the "You Make Da Call" subforum so I'm moving this there now.

Oh wow, thanks for pointing that out - that's an awesome ability, and (being an IG noob) i wasn't aware of that at all! Have barely skimmed the codex

My plan was just to run a detachment of plasma Scions to compliment my core Adepta Sororitas force. I'm still relatively new to this edition - but since they'll be in their own detachment, they'd still have access to that Regimental Doctrine even though it's not a pure IG force, is that correct?
