I just saw the Age of Sigmar Slaves to Darkness box set...

https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Start-Collecting-Slaves-to-Darkness

Are these the same models that were sold in Warhammer 8th Edition? They look remarkably similar, but I have seen neither up close and in person before. But the wizard, Knights, Warriors, and even the chariot look like the individual counterparts sold separately in 8th.

I assumed Age of Sigma was using all new models...

Age of Sigmar has a lot of repackaged items aswell. Those Chaos minis are all WHFB models still. Seraphon Start collecting box is also made out all Lizardmen units. I read your looking to start them aswell.

Those are all 8th ed. models, correct. They just have the wrong bases but you can get square bases from GW still.

Square Bases for Life!
AoS is pure garbage
Kill Primaris, Kill the Primarchs. They don't belong in 40K
40K is fantasy in space, not sci-fi

Dang, that's one Marauder unit away from being one of the old Battalions. And at $85 It's not a bad deal.

Yeah this is what I was thinking! I did the math on what that set would bring, along with an Aspiring Champion and 10 Marauders, and that would put me at about 700 points! Perfect!

Would this be a little overpowering though for a small game? The Knights and Chariot? I hear even the Warriors are really tough.

I did look into the Lizardmen, but Ravening Hordes doesn’t have anything for that Carnasaur thing, so it would be kind of a waste for me. But Lizardmen are on my list.

I guess you could proxy it as a Stegadon, until you upgrade. Past that, work a trade with someone who doesn't have a Carnosaur.

This really depends on what the enemy is.

All the armies you already collected have, to some extent, skills in close combat as well as in ranged combat.

Chaos with the units you are planning to buy is relying heavily on getting into hand-to-hand-combat.

Dwarves, empire and skaven should be able to deal with Chaos quite ok, because they have firepower with high strength (cannons with S10 to kill of the chariot easily , and S4 muskets, for example).

If you shoot down enough until they arrive on your tableside , you win. If not, you lose. Either way, it will probably be a bit of a one-sided event. (@ all: correct me if you think I am wrong for some reason).

With your Orcs selection, you do not have much of an option. If you can get the charge on the warriors on foot, you might stand a chance with black orcs wielding greatweapons and the chariot, but I don't see a chance to stop the chaos knights.
Only the spear chucka in the goblin list has the potential to kill a chaos knight with his +1 armor save (4+ /short range 5+ long range to hit, 2 to wound, no armor save, good bye chaos knight), but with just one and assuming he is not showing you his flank to shoot at, you can maybe hope to kill 2. The rest will still wreak enough havoc to break your small units. 2 Attacks per model which hit on a 3 and wound on 2 (with lances), and additionally the horses who also hit on 4 and wound on a 4. Ouch.

Did anyone ever play the Xbox game, Battle March? I played it back in the day and loved it. There was a time when my little army was pretty beaten down and I was in the level where I had to advance against Chaos and they had some huge Chaos cannon. So I stayed away and sure enough the Warriors and such advanced on me. All I really had was my cannon and handgunners, and barely any foot soldier. The only way I was going to win, was by killing them all before they reached my lines..

And sure enough, I pulled it off. Was one of the most tense game I ever played and still think about it to this day. It was glorious.

Not sure if that would have happened on the table-top.

on the forum. Obviously

It wasn't just an xbox game, it also had a PC release.
It was ok. It was Warhammer Total War before Warhammer Total War.

I would honestly love it if they ever expanded that game with other armies. I still have fun playing it.
