Subject: Low Opacity Citadel Paints - wanting alternatives

As the title explains, I'm finding that many of the Citadel layer paints have a low opacity. Whilst this is fine for putting down smooth layers, or creating blends, I'm finding it hard to use them for highlighting or fine work because the low opacity means I have to highlight several times to build up the colour - with the inevitable result of thick paint or not so fine highlights. With that in mind, can anybody suggest some close alternatives for these paints:
Evil Sunz Scarlet
Troll Slayer Orange

Hello,
You should give the Vallejo paints a try. Their "Game" range should do the trick for you : they have a good balance between opacity and resistance to manipulation.
Two paints you may be interested in :
extra opaque red
extra opaque orange.
These are pretty basic for color hue, but as their name suggest, they do have very convenient opacity to work on difficult undercoat such as black.

I couldn't speak about the pigment concentration in those colors, but I do use them for edge highlighting. I mix them with Liquitex Matte Medium as a first step, and they go on well enough, even over black.
I sometimes do the edge highlight in white then paint over it, since layer paints are translucent this makes them really pop when they get on a model.
Vallejo has a color, I think it's called Hazard Orange, which is similar to Troll Slayer Orange. They also have a collection of reds that are similar to everything in the GW catalog.

I have most of Vallejo's GC reds and oranges, and sadly they're not the much better than the GW ones.
The extra opaque red is indeed pretty opaque, as its name implies, but it's a single color, and a pretty dark one too.
Reds and yellows often suffer from poor opacity. Maybe there are some very opaque bright colors out there, but in my experience Vallejo isn't the magical solution here (their paints are still very good though).

Just a note on the Game Color Extra Opaques. Per Vallejo, they use the exact same formulation as the Model Color line.
