Hey guys... The wife and I are getting that itch again to try a different campaign system, and in recent years we find ourselves going back to Frostgrave so very often. Its a lean, easy game to teach, but thanks to a prodigious content creator it feels like we're always finding new memorable moments. Ulterior Motives combined so well with the pile of expansion books to make a game we always find an enjoyable time (although I still wish its between-game phase, especially base-building were more satisfying).

Outside of Mordheim and Necromunda, are there any other solid game systems with a similar volume of good content? I've said this here often, but in campaign games, having tons of diversity to loot, events, progression, etc... really helps them go from one-off experiences, to something that stays with us.

If you like Cthulhu Mythos stuff, Strange Aeons is a great skirmish game set in the 1920s. One side plays as the Threshold, a government agency tasked with fighting against the unnatural. The other player controls the Lurkers, all the horrible monsters, aliens, and other abominations.

A friend and I played a short campaign (check my blog link in the sig below), where we switched off playing as the Threshold and Lurkers, with each of us running our own team of agents. Theres plenty of scensrios and character development.

Strange Aeons is great, along with This is Not a Test.

I actually worked on the 2nd Edition briefly. :-)

I would second This is Not a Test. It has a really solid inbetween games campaign system. The rules are solid as well.

Did the Kult version of Strange Aeons ever get out of the KS phase? That looked pretty cool.

You can read more about Strange Aeons in my blog review here if you want.... http://bloodandspectacles.blogspot.com/2016/12/review-strange-aeons-uncle-mikes.html

Something else that might be fun would be to take some of the quick and easy Osprey games like Ronin or Broken Legions and expand their lite campaign systems to something more along the lines you are looking for.

66.6% (!) of casting is finished for VUK. Not sure if the new edition will be available outside of KS.

For anyone who missed my post... I actually worked on Strange Aeons 2nd Ed, so i'm pretty familiar with it. :-p

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I was hoping something came out that we'd missed, but Frostgrave, and the often recommended This is Not a Test, are definitely our most played campaign games. We love them, and just hoped something like it might've come out in the interim.

Guess i'll have to hope Ash's Last Days goes hard on the campaign rules and supplements. ;-)

Speaking of zombies, The Walking Dead All Out War has a campaign system.

Empire of the Dead, maybe? I think Manchu also has a review of that on his blog.

Also, it sounds like you have certain tastes and some background with game design. Have you thought of just doing it yourself?

I would, but there's a collision of "knowing how the sausage is made", with also wanting my game time to not feel like my work, that makes me reticent of just making my own content.

Honestly, i'll probably just deep-dive into all the really good fan-made Mordheim content at some point.

I just thought of two other Miniature games with campaigns...

-Judge Dredd Miniature Game- Warlord
- Dracula's America- Osprey

I have not played either so I can not vouch for them personally. I have heard good thing about the Dredd Campaign and Drac has two supplement books so there is some meat to it.
