Is there any reference to it's physical appearance?

I was thinking of magnetizing something that I could stick to necron characters that carry it.

As far as any lore goes that I'm aware of, it's just a cloak of shadow coiling and writhing about the Necron, rather than a physical device.

From the accounts of it its a veil that's physically part of a lords body and cannot be removed and the user can summon it as a ghostly cloak so id imagine its not there its inside the Frame and when used a almost cloak like fog that bends light and space flows out surrounding the area not allowing light to pass through and disperses like smoke shortly after, similar to a phase shifter which is built in and cant be removed its not a physical item as such but a modification to the frame and how it reacts in the material verse, so id picture it as being maybe a darker metal on the lords frame, but if it was to be modelled on, something similar to the nightbringers cloak maybe, a thin cloak and hood blowing in the breeze as if it had no weight and was shaped smoke.

Thanks for input

I'm a bit late to the party on this, but Necron items like this (Veil of Darkness, Ghost Mantle, etc.) have always been something I really liked.

So I did some kit-bashing with some leftover models after picking up Forgebane using accessories from the Obelisk/Tesseract Vault kit and put together a model with a Veil/counts-as Obyron with his Ghost Mantle:

Still working out how I'm going to paint it up but right now I'm leaning toward a glowing voxel effect that dissolves away from the colours of the model.

At any rate, I think something like this seems suitably Necron-y for some sort of techno-magic cloak/veil/mantle.

Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

That's a great idea! Going to be a challenge to paint it yes

I always imagined it as a literal cloak, smokey effect that billows and moves kind of like spawns cloak.

Yeah. I was looking at this AoS figure, Knight of Shrouds

Swap the head for a necron head, the right arm can be swapped too. The left arm is trickier, and the scabbard, and also he has no body under his "Veil", so that would have to be solved. But it could work. Could use some of those Obelisk/T.Vault bits to set into the Veil for added necron effect.
