A few weeks back I put up a poll about what people would like to see once GW has finished the initial codex updates.

61% went for refreshed kits with 20% going for new kits. So off of the back of that I was wondering, if your army could only have 3 new/refreshed kits what would you choose and why.

As a kick off I thought I'd go with a few of the factions I play.

Spacemarines

Plastic Spartan/Cerberus/Typhon kit LoW choice - This is the one unit option that they really lack and the kit could be given to SM, BA, DA & CSM.

New Predator kit - Combine the two current kits into one, adding the Mega Melta & Plasma Executioner from FW, with a generic Tank commander option (new HQ) much in the same way as how the Leman Russ kit was refreshed. Again this could go for SM, BA, DA & CSM, even TS as well. This is meant to be the main battle tank but is lacking in some love compared to other parts of the range

Finally, The basic Dreadnought kit, have this kit armed with Heavy Bolters, Autocannons & Multi Melts options with the similar slot fit (weapon into arm) used on the Venerable Dreadnought, this would give us back the majority of options we lost between the Indexes and the Codex

Tau

New Hammerhead kit with more turret options and a generic tank commander option (new HQ), as with SM, this is meant to be the main battle tank, lets see it get the kind of love XV8 suits have had.

Kroot squads (assuming they don't get their own book) with additional options (Sniper and full CC) - limited and old, the need a refresh

Krootox squad in plastic with options for other weapons - these need to be out of fine caste.

Finally DeathGuard

Plague tower as a LoW option - in the same vain SM one of the few real gaps they have is a universal LoW choice

A DG flyer - some kind of slow plague bomber (so not Super Sonic but hard to down), again as this is the other unit type the book is missing

A DG version of Havoc with some mid-range anti tank weapons (36" range?)

So if you could pick just 3 kits, what would you want to see.

I think the current Berzerks are fine, but I totally forgot about Angron!

For Chaos Space Marines:

#1: I am going to cheat a little bit and say Chosen, but I would use them as regular CSM as well. I just want the sprue to have enough weapon options for both. Bonus points if I could also use it for Havocs (after enough boxes). However, I don't want them going all Primaris on me. Although, I am pretty sure that is exactly what GW is going to do.

#2: Abbadon. His current model is just not up to even low standards of today's miniatures. Board games are beginning to out pace it.

#3: Terminators. I don't mind the Horus Heresy look (Cataphractii Pattern) which they probably should be given it seems like the best source of where most CSM got them. I don't really want to have to Chaos up the current models to use them though. I also think it would be nice for Chaos to have a couple of Terminator unit options.

Orks are likely to get new models with a codex but:

1. New ghaz model
2. Skorcha/buggy/wartrakk kit as the current model is from second edition!
3. I want a dope ass warboss kit with tons of options for poses and weapons. Hell maybe even an option to make a standard warboss in mega armor. An all encompassing warboss kit.

I won't address CSM as my entire army is made of non-Chaos kits because I dislike the Chaos aesthetic, so that's a moot point.

Eldar? Simple, three dual-kits for plastic Aspect Warriors. Failing that, a three-model kit which allows the consumer to build any Farseers/Warlocks/Spirit Seers out of it. Simple.

Well wouldn't that be a request for some CSM kits that are a variation from the normal spikes and skulls aesthetic?

Space Marines:

I would really like an upgraded oldmarine command squad kit. The old one is certainly not bad, but I think you could do so many cool things with that. Leave all options in it (eg apothecary, ancient and champion). Heck, you could even do a dual-kit with the honour guard. Though I think the bling factor of HG is a tad bit higher than regular command squads. Still, something along those lines would be nice.

Next up, a new commander kit with distinct options of building a lieutenant. Again, the old commander box is certainly nice, but a few weapon options are missing. You could really do something cool with that. And, again, oldmarines, please. Nothing against Primaris, but I still prefer those old models!

Last but not least, I think I will just quote ScarVet, as he already said what I think would be cool:

Im gonna pick Orkz. We desperately need a new Warboss kit (Mega Armor, Bike, Foot). Then, I would suggest new Buggies. The drivers in the kit are the size of Gretchin!

Lastly, I would like to see a return of 'Ard Boyz (mostly since I have a fair number of the metal upgrade bitz)

First two quite likely. Third will come after hell freezes though :(

Destroyers that don't look like a balding toilet brush would be an awesome start. Definitely agree with the other 2 aswell, though I want to squeeze some less comic Warrior sculpts in there somewhere.

Easily this.
- Swooping Hawk/ Banshee kit -similar 'running/leaping' poses
- Fire Dragon/ Dark Reaper kit -identical shooting stance
- Scorpion/ Warp Spider kit -similar 'crouching' stance

All 3 kits would share the same bodies and just have head and weapon swaps. You also only have 1 "big" bit in each kit. Wings, Reaper launcher and Warp Jump generator.
If you mix them in any other way you skew the amount of plastic each kit has.
For example, if you pair Scorpions/Banshees (both have pistol/melee weapon) and Hawks/Spiders (both jump infantry), the Hawk/Spider kit will HAVE to be more expensive than the Scorpion/Banshee kit because you have Wings and Jump generator in the kit.

Space Wolves: a new Ragnar Blackmane. No other models are needed IMHO.

Drukhari: a new Drazhar model, a new named character for the kabals (they currently have none), a ranged heavy support choice for coven and wych cults since they currently have none, the coven can't even bring flyers.

Orks: a new gun boat tank like the leman russ/predator, new buggies models, a biker character that can be assembled as a warboss, big mek or painboy.

For SM/DA:
1. Techmarine on bike. This entry has been in the dex for as long as I can remember. It's a good conversion opportunity, but still should get a model for it.
2. Librarian on Bike: same as above
3. Chaplain on a bike: used to have a kit, but now discontinued. I use a converted asmodai but still should get a xedicated model.

Ummh that\s only issue if they can't fit them on roughly same sprue size. Amount of plastic itself is irrelevant.

2) Primaris Drop Pod
Primaris desperately need a way of getting up the field more efficiently than the Repulsor. I'd actually prefer they just let Primaris ride in normal transports, but failing that I'd take this.

3) New Deathwing Sprue allowing Combi-plasmas as a replacement for Storm Bolters.
Deathwing armies have been a thing since 2nd edition, and it's been about the same length of time since they've been any good! Decent squad wide ranged damage would go a long way to fixing that, and would look cool as all hell.

I was reading through this thread again and realized a sad trend. Note how many people requested a great multi-part kit with options for a Warlord of their army? With the current GW direction, we'll probably get the opposite of that; a $35 single plastic sprue with one (maaaaybe two) weapon options, and all other options removed from the codex in future days, etc.

So, I guess be careful what you wish for. I can already smell the Ork tears if they release a new plastic Warboss kit and it has a single pistol, and an option for a power klaw or axe...and that's it. This is the single worst failing of GW in recent days and something which will hinder my enthusiasm going forward.

Shame, really. Doubly so when you consider how good their infantry dual kits normally are (and how many options are included on those). I'd even go so far as to say I'd warrant a $35 price tag on a single character if it came with half a dozen heads, 5-6 weapon options, a ton of personalization bits - akin to the wonderful Fantasy wizard kit from a while back. If you're going to charge an arm and a leg...allow the players to get something out of it rather than "hey you get these weapons, deal with it".
