Hi guys - new to 40k Rules so go easy on me...I play at home with my son to get my head round the rules before one day heading to local GW shop for proper battles.

Yesterday his Kroot Carnivores were shooting at my DG Marine and we couldnt figure out how to resolve this:

5 Carnivores shooting at one remaining Plague Champion
10 dice for Rapid Fire and 5 Shots passed BS
Kroot rifles Strength 4 against Marine Tough 5 = 4 Hits
Marine has a Save of 3+ but the Kroot rifle is AP6.....?!

I understand if AP is -2 then 2 is deducted from the Save roll but how to non-minus numbers work? All TAU seem to be non-minus....

Let me know if i have posted in wrong topic BTW

Cheers

Ehm, this might seem obvious but are you completely sure you were not using the 7th edition codex?
Because the 8th edition one 100% uses - ap.

As others have said, you don’t have the current Codex. If you bought it recently take it back and get the up to date one! The whole rules system has changed so 7th and older Codexes don’t even have the right stats for 8th anymore.

The rules for 8th edition are SIGNIFICANTLY different to 7th. They aren't cross compatible at all. To be able to play games with Tau you will need the codex for this edition.

in 7th edition ap6 meant that it ignores a 6+ save. AP3 ignores a 3+ save and so on.
