Cozy cockpit of an Imperial Knight

Coming September 2018.

Main question is, will this be a Tomb Raider game or will it be the Rambo game we've always wanted, but never got? Though judging from the take downs she's been using in the trailer, this may as well be the third instalment in the Lara Voorhees trilogy, mooks beware as there is a serial killer on the loose!

Looking forward to this one, oh yes!

Looks like a big departure from the previous games in the Shadow Of series, I don't see Mordor or any Colossi!

In all seriousness, though, I'm fully on board. Yes, Lara's gone full psycho-killer Predator-meets-Batman now, but after the last two games I think that's a natural progression; it'd be more odd if she was still hesitant to kill people after the ridiculous body count she's wracked up over the previous titles.

And while this isn't actual gameplay footage, the aesthetic/environment looks like it'll be fantastic. By the sound of some of the previews, there's also a few more actual tombs this time round which is nice, the ones in Rise were decent but it did perhaps feel like they could have done more with them.

The big question though, will we finally get to have dual pistols again by the end of this? And will the third act be yet another army of nondescript undead while she climbs something?

I read some of the early coverage so far. All of the articles I read (well, all two of them) said this is shaping up to be the grimdarkest Lara Croft yet.

I get the feeling that aside from the akimbo moment in the first game, it wont make a return. Roth's guns can be found in one of the DLC's in the second game in her office though.

Well, human sacrifice is pretty grimdark, but I'm curious to see what else they'd think of doing to make things even more dark and edgy than they already are at this point.

I think this will end of up being like God of War 3, where the most heroic thing you can do is to stop playing.

Giving this a bump as it should be unlocked early for those who went with certain special editions. It's running a bit choppy on the PC right now, but so far, so good.

The added in camera mode is a bit.. dodgy though.

Miss Croft, lost and alone in the jungle..

Spoiler:

Or miss Croft, happy to be away from prying eyes and eager to start killing mooks again:

Spoiler:

Best bit yet though: Quick Lara, put on a disguise!

Spoiler:

Oh yes, our little serial killer is back in action.

Was thinking of picking this up, but I don't know if I want to spend $70, might wait for the price to come down or a sale. But, will probably give in to tempation some time in the next few days.

Is there anything unlockable carried over from other games? I played the first on Xbone, then #2 on PC, and now I wanna go back to Xbone for #3.

I played all games on Steam and the only thing that carried over are outfits from both games, but they appear to be purely cosmetic with no bonuses like some other outfits or the stuff you can craft over the course of the game.

Yeah, I'm having problems with the game just randomly freezing for several seconds.
I'm enjoying it so far, otherwise.

Weirdly enough it runs smoothly for me in the open world hubs but becomes choppy and stutters the moment I enter a tomb.

I can't wait to get this... a year from now for 50% the cost with all the DLC included.

It's been getting so-so reviews, and I think my biggest fear** for the game is true, but I loved the last two so I'm really looking forward to playing this.

**That the hyped up "What sort of monster have I become?" aspect will be glossed over pretty quickly and she'll be back to bloodthirsty jungle-murder within a few minutes.

Found a way to fix the freezing issue. I went into the task manager and set the CPU priority to high for the game. No freezes since.

Doesn't work for me sadly, guess I'll ride it out until they officially fix it.

I have discovered the latest in cruel and over the top death animations this franchise loves to bombard us with.. miss-timed a jump when I slid down a slope so I made a long drop down, only she didn't ragdoll on impact or fade to black, instead she broke her leg, wobbled around for a bit, then got torn to shreds by a pair of wolves.

Just.. fething hell man.. Harsh.

And beat it.

Huh, this one is a bit shorter than the previous two for sure..! Put in 22 hours so far, including quite a bit of sidetracking to explore the hubs and collect every treasure and whatnot I come across. Sitting at 82% or so as far as overall completion goes, still need to unlock the lockpick and rope tool so I can open some chests and remove some walls.

At least we've got new game plus, yay?

Some final thoughts about the story in spoiler tags then.

Spoiler:
Well, at least the Trinity arc is over with. Though the final section of the game, while busy, felt very phoned in with hardly any player participation as you just ran around to the end. One of the two bosses of the game died without any fight really, he just runs out of ammo and dies. The entire Trinity high council was also present during the final section, but within a minute of them announcing that the council is present they've already been killed off, more or less ensuring off screen that this part of the plot is tied up nice and neatly. :|

So, final boss battle is the usual gimmick thing followed by Lara needing to make a choice as she's being tempted, no surprises there what she was tempted with, and really no surprises as to what she wound up choosing.

But at least most of the angst and grimdark is gone now as Lara finally got the closure she desired so hopefully the next game in the series will be more cheeky and adventurous than these three. Hopefully no more episodes where she snaps, stabs a dude to death in cold blood and then proceeds to mow down an entire army of them.

And, we got to the return of a wobbly Winston!

Not impresed by this game, combat is far too easy. the riddels and puzzels take too litle effort, BUT I do have to say there are a few things I like too, even if they made the game feel like a disaster Movie at times.
I sincerely hope we do not get more of the supernatural nonsense in the next game, I will be pleased if I just have to deal With plain old evil/ insane people.

I think you're playing the wrong series.

First game saw us take on a Japanese sun goddess who was possessing one of our friends.
Second game saw us take on an ancient army of unkillable soldiers who would resurrect themselves, all related to a messianic figure who had been alive for centuries.

But this game is a bridge too far?

Aye, the super natural has always been a part of the series. It is perhaps a bit more global this time around as opposed to the previous two games.

Now to see how well done the upcoming bonus tombs and content will be. These will be released on a monthly basis. If the previous games are anything to go by, it should be worth the investment.

I did not like those either, but I have to say the first game did a good job of making it bearable. Second game was a downhill experience from start to finish but had good combat and puzzels. The third game would have been very good if they toned it down, and had you getting mere glimps of it. Well outside the impending threat of armagedon.

I mean, if we want to talk about "the first game" where you have to kill the winged immortal queen of Atlantis or the second in which someone shoves a dagger in their heart to become a literal dragon.,

I just finished the game. I'd have to say...meh? Honestly, I feel Rise was the better game, with a better MacGuffin, and an overall better setting and story. I still remember a few story elements from Rise, but I expect I'll largely forget Shadow. I mean, I still enjoyed playing the game, but I doubt I'll remember much beyond the broad strokes in a year or so.

Story comments in spoiler.
Spoiler:
Have to agree with your comments on the end sequence. Rourke died without any participation from me, Amaru was a fairly straightforward gimmicky-fight that was fairly easy with my machinegun, and the Trinity leadership appearing and then disappearing (permanently) entirely off-camera. I very much wonder if the devs aren't too certain there will be a fourth game, and someone higher up said "get rid of Trinity/tie up the story" for some reason in order to allow for some sort of creative freedom for any future the franchise might have. Very disappointed that the Yaaxil were not really explained. I feel they were added as a way to pad out the action without needing to have Lara just kills lots of humans. Because, at some point, you start to wonder just where the hell is Trinity hiring all these soldiers without the rest of the world noticing?

Regarding the supernatural aspect, I do thing it was a tad overdone. Definitely, whatever MacGuffin Lara is after has to be real, in order for there to be real stakes. Would Raiders of the Lost Ark been anywhere near as good if the Ark did nothing in the end?

I'm not sure if the Tomb Raider game would be the same if some Black Duck mercenaries looted a museum and stole an old stone tablet. Lara then goes after the Black Ducks and takes the tablet from them so that she can put it on eBay...

I'm fine with the supernatural aspect of the games. The TR movie showed us how stupid the story would be without the supernatural elements to spice things up...

I have the results of the last chamber: You are a horrible person.
That's what it says: A horrible person...
We weren't even testing for that.
