Welcome all.

I've painted for a while on and off for years, but never played the game before 8th. Now I'm here and I'm painting to play and it's a totally different daemon to single model fun. So I started with Orks back when 8th was released, but they have fallen out of favour in recent months and I'm a pretty competitive player so I decided to make something new. And so, Orks have been on the back burner
Spoiler:
and will be for a while until the codex is released. I've now moved to another green, but slightly paler green, army; Nurgle.

I need some motivation to push through this army before the new Ork codex, but I also want this army painted to a pretty high quality. Orks I tend to just rip through quickly, but this elite army I'm enjoying and pushing myself to try some new things with. Here is the list I started buying back in January:
Spoiler:

++ Battalion Detachment +5CP (Chaos - Daemons) [30 PL, 574pts] ++

+ No Force Org Slot +

Chaos Allegiance: Nurgle

. Nurgle: Fleshy Abundance

Daemon Prince of Chaos [8 PL, 156pts]: Malefic talon
. Nurgle: Miasma of Pestilence

Epidemius [5 PL, 100pts]

+ Troops +

Nurglings [3 PL, 54pts]: 3x Nurgling Swarms

Nurglings [3 PL, 54pts]: 3x Nurgling Swarms

Nurglings [3 PL, 54pts]: 3x Nurgling Swarms

++ Spearhead Detachment +1CP (Chaos - Death Guard) [33 PL, 618pts] ++

+ HQ +

Daemon Prince of Nurgle [9 PL, 180pts]: 1. Revoltingly Resilient, 4. Blades of Putrefaction, Malefic talon, The Suppurating Plate, Warlord, Wings

+ Heavy Support +

Plagueburst Crawler [8 PL, 146pts]: 2x Entropy cannon, Heavy Slugger

Plagueburst Crawler [8 PL, 146pts]: 2x Entropy cannon, Heavy Slugger

Plagueburst Crawler [8 PL, 146pts]: 2x Entropy cannon, Heavy Slugger

++ Spearhead Detachment +1CP (Chaos - Chaos Space Marines) [48 PL, 807pts] ++

+ No Force Org Slot +

Legion: Alpha Legion

+ HQ +

Sorcerer [6 PL, 98pts]: Bolt pistol, Force stave, Mark of Nurgle, Prescience, Warptime

+ Troops +

Chaos Cultists [12 PL, 124pts]: 30x Chaos Cultist w/ Autogun, Mark of Nurgle
. Cultist Champion: Autogun

+ Heavy Support +

Obliterators [10 PL, 195pts]: Mark of Nurgle, 3x Obliterator

Obliterators [10 PL, 195pts]: Mark of Nurgle, 3x Obliterator

Obliterators [10 PL, 195pts]: Mark of Nurgle, 3x Obliterator

++ Total: [111 PL, 1999pts] ++

This list got invalidated by the new FAQ but I'm going to keep painting it while I figure out how to change it.

Today I finally pretty much finished something I'm happy to present, and I think it works as a pretty good test case for the army's design. I plan to fill the corpse bases with resin, so it looks like they are wading in blood, and maybe do some stark but controlled blood splashes over the armour.

I feel like this hits my proof of concept pretty well for the army, now it's about translating that across everything.

Here are an assortment of things that are in the works:

Some wargames exclusive obliterators that are soon to be next.

The two DP here are from titan-forge.

Of course plagueburst crawlers.

This DP has an amazing base that I got from a friend, no idea where it's from. The head and wings from the titan-forge DPs.

And this is my least exciting and least completed model so far, Epidemius. He needs a lot of greenstuff and extra nurglings if I continue down this path, and I might completely remake him. Either way he's got a long way to go.

Thanks to the big FAQ the list has to change, but I'm currently playing pure death guard for a few weekends so no updates on the list front for now. But a tournament is coming up here in June and I'd be keen to have this army presentable by then. Lucky it's fairly elite, but it's still a lot to paint before I'm happy with it.

Please C&C is welcome, the photos are not the best, unrealistically high on contrast (they are taken with my phone) but I think you get the idea. I'll work on that aspect as I paint.

You say it's your least exiting model, but I'm mostly curious for how you will make Epidemius look in the end!

Wew, belated updated. I'm doing this photo thing wrong but this will just have to do. When something actually is completed I'll get out a real camera.

Anyway the list has changed, and heaps (but not all) of the models are just seeing progress. I don't really work on one model at a time so not super conducive for a blog.

Things you've seen before

New additions to the army

Last guy here is a chaos lord with a jump pack from evilcraft.eu

Base prototype for the army. I've been buying Corpse Field bases for the whole army and feel like the deep red gore look is essential to bring balance to my pale army. I think it compliments well but am concerned about it being a bit too distracting.

Sadly there has been no progress on epidemius or the trees. The army has shifted and they will be worked on after a tournament I'm painting for next month.

Thanks man. The nurglings were super quick to paint as well, most of the skin is a 2 tone air brush. All the small details I could be patient with and still get an overall good look with little effort.

I based mine Army painter green, I'll probably wash em, drybrush on some nurgling green, do up their horns, and touch them up. Its just good to see what they may look like!

Still figuring out how to do reasonable photos. Honestly just being lazy about it all.

Anyway, here is mostly the final result, this was presented at Wintercon and topped the painting comp, I was chuffed.

Here are some details:

New projects are on the way already:

And I'm resurrecting my Epidemius project as well:

I know my photos are terrible. I just cant seem to figure out how to compress them appropriately and the camera I used just wouldnt connect to my PC. I'm going to have to buy something specifically for this setup so I can actually take clean images. In the meanwhile you get the idea.

10x edit: I just ended up uploading massive files to get some clarity, they auto resize on my browser and seem to look good, but I'm not sure if that's the same for everyone. Hopefully people are not seeing 6000x4000 pixel images....
