I guess ICQ still has users, but AIM and MSN Messenger are both officially dead and buried.

Perhaps these could be replaced with Discord and some other app the younglings these days use?

It would probably depend on what the point of the contact information would be: communication or simply sharing your hobby stuff. But I would think some basic good alternatives would be:

Twitter
Instagram
Maybe Tumblr, but I guess you can just make that your homepage.

For actual communication, there is Discord, WhatsApp, Skype, Facebook Messenger, etc. But I think I would be cautious about throwing that information out there. I think the old communication apps were very self-contained and easy to ignore since they just ran on a computer. But nowadays these communication apps are constantly on, allowing everyone anywhere to contact you around the clock. If someone thinks you make a stupid argument in YMDC or hates you for playing Wrong Color Marines, they can cyber stalk and spam you pretty easily. I can see why people still like those modes, but I don't know if we need to make it easy to have that information front and center. It's easy enough to PM someone you are friendly with and say "hey, can I contact you via X".

On the other hand, if you don't want people contacting you like that you're always free to not list any contact information. It's not like having an option makes it mandatory to use it, adding the space for it is purely a benefit for those who wish to use it.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Very true. I was just trying to think of some reasons why they may have not been added. Basically the same reason why we never had "phone number" as a contact option. (At least I don't think that was ever an option).

Another part of the problem may be the actual buttons themselves being displayed in the signatures. If someone goes through the trouble of making Twitter, Tumblr, Discord, [whatever] buttons it might save Lego some work and maybe convince him to do the bit of coding required to replace the old contact options.
