Long time lurker but joined up to make this post, I've got a tournament coming up within the next few months and as such have been putting together a few lists. I already have a GUO Daemon based list that's pretty dialed in, but I am struggling with the Rotbringer/Mortal list I want to do playtesting on. Was hoping to get some feedback on the 2 included lists. I do have a lot of models at my disposal so if anything else makes sense to change feedback would be greatly appreciated!

What do I drop with the 1st list since it comes in at 2120/2000 - Struggling to decide between dropping Herald or Festus, I want to reliably be able to cast BoP at least once per round so I want to leave the Sorc w/ Muttergrub, but would also like to be able to use Favoured Poxes as well. Will I be losing too much by dropping Festus and losing out on the healing he can provide Glottkin and the BKs, or would moving the dial provide enough on its own to compensate?

I would love to run something like Rustfang, I just don't know that these lists have someone that would make a good carrier for it like a LoA would. Spells are placeholders, just punched stuff into list builder quickly, for instance won't be running list full of Plague Squall and BoP.

First, I know you said the spells are placeholders.. but those decisions can def shape an army choice selection. Also each wizard can only know one Nurgle lore (so arcane shield and arcane bolt, unique spell, foul regen and one given spell).

I dont care for blight cyst. Especially mixed with a glotkin as it eats into the numbers of blightkings. I wouldn't even think of running the cyst unless I was running a MINIMUM of 30 kings. 15 is simply not enough to make the (essentially) 360 point battalion worth it. So I would go with the second list, but also drop the 10x monks and add a plague priest with censer. 10 monks wont do anything and this way you can get some extra buffs and long range mortal wound generation mechanic.

Also.. tome of 1000 poxes is kind of a waste of an artifact. +1 casting compared to witherstave is a no brainer IMO. Rarely will that +1 actually make or break the one spell your trying to cast MAYBE two times a game. where as a 12" bubble of re-roll 6's to hit is HUGE.

When you put it that way it makes perfect sense, pretty costly batallion when you factor in running with the LoB. Noted on the changes to the second list as well.

What do you think about this version of Blightcyst? Swapped a few things around to be more inline with your suggestions, although I had trouble squeezing in the last 5 BK's so I went with 25 and a full group of Plaguebearers. I guess an alternative would be to use Marauders instead and squeeze the extra 5 back in for an even 2000/2000. Without a successful BoP cast I don't think this list generates a decent amount of mortals though, which is kind of concerning.

I think gutrot is amazing in a blight cyst battalion though. Ambushing 10 kings that have rend and ignore cover...I would 100% swap festus for gutrot.

Also just curious why a GUO? His command ability doesnt help your list literally at all. Rustfang on the LoB might be better and double dip on -2 to saves! You could go with the harbinger of decay for the general for a 5++ save on some of the kings instead of GUO.

He doesn't have room for another character as the general without removing the GUO and his command ability is actually pretty useful on big plaguebearer units.
