A couple of things I am curious about –

Any particular reason why there is no FW allowed?
What is the reasoning behind only allowing 3 maelstrom cards to be scored each turn? Surely it just means that a good portion of maelstrom games are decided by turn 1 “lucky vs unlucky” draws, as the unlucky draw player suddenly has a massive restriction against them being able to get back into the points game. This too has an impact on your overall game scoring system.

Genuinely confused as to why the “Rulings and Clarifications” page is in the document.

List submission is 20 days before the event, but also in the same month as the next “big FAQ” (should the schedule remain). This could potentially be an issue when it comes to list submissions – especially if it goes the same way as the “march” FAQ.

Surprised a little at the fixed warlord trait and psychic powers. What is the stance on relics? Do they need to be stated as per the “all upgrades must be shown” section? Does this include instances where you might want to take more than 1 relic?

I might come along to it – it’s close enough to me to consider.

Im guessing you don't play ETC so ill answer

1) FW has never been allowed in the ETC and we tend to follow the same set of rules throughout major UK events. They are not playtested (openly admitted) and only give certain factions more options which they simply don't need (Imperium).

2) Scoring only 3 cards a turn prevents exactly what you have stated. Some armies with say 6 cards turn 1 will be able to score all 6, whilst your opponent can only score 1. That in turn means you bassically lost the game due to RNG turn 1, whilst limiting it to 3 reduces that significantly. RNG still plays an element, that is the way of Maelstrom.

3) I got this from the Caledonins Rulespack and thought it would be good to add.

4)If GW announces the FAQ closer to the time, the date can be moved. The rulespack can always be edited, as for the reasoning behind me putting the version as 1.0.

5)The fixed warlord and powers is something we decided makes it fair and a part of the army list. I hear people saying "oh yeah i can just change my powers if i face this army or that army" making it too flexible. GW have already got rid of the random D6 to get powers, now you can pick them. Using some form of strategy to put your selected powers in your list is apart of the game, so we want to implement that. As for the relics, any fixed ones must be on the list (I will ammend that if it is not clearly stated). As for any bought before the game, this can be done before each game starts.

Hope that answeres your questions and hope to see you there pal

Yeah, never been to a specific ETC event before, so I am curious about it. I am just a little surprised by some of the decisions, really. I know there are massive swings and roundabouts in regards to overall balance, let alone between each FW and GW unit, but never really understood the complete refusal. But I guess, what works, works.

Yeah, was just a couple of observations that I thought should be mentioned. It got stressful enough waiting around for the Spring FAQ before the LGT

Will see how things go with the LGT!

Its perfectly fine to make those observations if you aren't used to playing as such. We just find sticking to what we believe is fair tends to work. Had no issues with the ETC system so far! I think its the most well rounded system for a singles event, with maelstrom, killpoints and a primary objective in every mission, makes for a truly tactical game.

Martel - "Custodes are terrible in 8th. Good luck with them. They take all the problems of marines and multiply them."

"Lol, classic martel. 'I know it was strong enough to podium in the biggest tournament in the world but I refuse to acknowledge space marines are good because I can't win with them and it can't possibly be ME'."

DakkaDakka is really the place where you need anti-tank guns to kill basic dudes, because anything less isn't durable enough.

You mean you won't be using the patented London Polystyrene L? Just squaring the time away with the wife and I'll grab a ticket. How much space left?

Hahaha no we wont. Check out our facebook page for what type of terrain we have prepared. Had a terrain building day at the weekend which was a laugh and got the majority of it sorted. We do use L shaped buildings but I can assure you they look a lot better than those...abominations :p

Awesome, will be great to have you mate. There are about 25 spaces left but I know quite a few people getting a ticket at the end of the month on pay day so don't leave it too long :
