Asdrubael Vect, unarguable tyrant of the dark city and supreme overlord of the Druhkari, wants you dead. He will use all the resources at his disposal and his considerable cunning to get it done, caring very little for collateral damage.

So, who are you and how do you survive? Are you a high lord, safe on Terra, never entering any room with even an ounce of shadow lest the Mandrakes manifest there? An Eldar Farseer meditating alone on an unmanned Eldar Wraithship, using your powers scry for future events? A Necron Lord perhaps, safe on a Dynasty world sitting in a safe vault your calculations assure you will be able to survive the sudden appearance of a Black Hole in your mail box?

It's a fun concept of a smart and vicious killer with almost infinite resources and theoretical access to the entire universe. How do you survive?

This- travel time in warpspace and life expectancy of Tau and Imperials mean that unless you are someone with access to life extending procedures (rejuvenat, cloning etc) Vect's agents aren't going to get there in time. If you are a tau or guardsman who has lived long enough to vex Vect somehow- by the time his minions get from a webway portal to wherever you are, you will already be pushing up space daisies.

Just for fun though, I am a member of a large extended community on Catachan. Good luck finding me, I'm behind seven hundred square kilometeres of spikers, mantraps and brainleaves.

I am a Wierdboy.

I spend my time on the outskirts of Ork Kulture, where the inherent instability of the Warp relative to my powers makes it hard for Mandrakes and other such shadow constructs to pursue me.

While other Orks don't want to much to do with me, I remain safe because, when a raid occurs or some lone assassin comes for my bounty, some odd Warp Effect takes hold of me. It's unpredictable, but usually manifests as an unstoppable mind bullet that frys the brains of my would-be killers.

My home is shared with several Dark Eldar assassins whose minds were shattered during our encounter. They howl / whine when other assassins approach, and I encourage this behavior with ample amounts of squig juice and fungus. Their teeth are small, but they regrow quickly enough that I can afford to keep them fed.

I am alpharius, so what if your older, I'm better, your assasins find their weaponry jamming as they get torn to shreds by cultists in a back alley, your mandrakes de-manifest in the face of my blanks, and if you kill me then 2 more shall take my place, even as you find your assasins heads in your freezer. also blackhole boxes get checked by psykers from a distance before getting returned to sender.

I am a perfectly normal houseplant. Vect assumes someone must be messing with his to-do list and instead of pursuing a vendetta against a potted cactus goes after whoever is pranking him.

Watch enough BDSM so Slaanesh takes notice, and offer to help locate Dark Eldar in exchange for protection.

So how good are Dark Eldar at finding people, exactly? Would you have odds of survival if you were just some random dude that Vect didn't know the location of?

Peregrine - If you like the army buy it, and don't worry about what one random person on the internet thinks.

I'd say with all the resources at his disposal, odds he is very good at finding people. (However the current fluff has him having trouble tracking down Yvraine, which doesn't make much sense to me).

Haemonculi can use crushed up Seer bones to see the future. Mandrakes can hunt you through the shadows. Khymerae can hunt you in your dreams. All along with a vast spy network. I don't think being a nobody would be enough protection. I think the better examples are people who play a similar game to Vect, like Alpharius or Ahriman.

If the plot needs you to be mysterious then you shall be mysterious. Finding Yvraine should be a piece of cake.

I am Lucius The Eternal. I let Vect kill me, and wait patiently in the warp until he pats himself on the back for it.

I kinda doubt Vect would do it himself. It's far far more likely to be a hired gun. Which he'd then have captured and brought before the Haemonculi as he begins to morph into Lucius. And ooooooh the Haemonculi can then do far worse things than kill him, probably something so bad even Lucius would be uncomfortable.
