I demonstrate two different ways for easy blood effects.
When mixing your own blood colours, adding some gloss medium or varnish to the mix will give it some shine. Alternately, you can gloss varnish just the blood effects after application.

The easiest - Citadel: Blood for the Blood God

Or you can mix your own with paint and Gloss Medium/Varnish:

Murderous Magenta + Cygnus Yellow
Any Reds + Murderous Magenta, Sanguine Base or Highlight
Adding a spot of deep brown, such as Umbral Umber will deepen and darken the blood for and older and stain-like appearance.
