With the new edition around the corner I'm having a look at Age of Sigmer, being steampunk sky pirates I'm considering the Kharadron Overlord's. However I like to play aggressive armies rather than standing around shooting, how well do the Overlords work with getting stuck in?

Meta wise, I have no idea. Locally they have given me fits. They are not great at it, but have been more than capable of holding back my clanrats. (we dont play points though)

Depending on unit (choice, size, buffs) they can swing from terrible to awesome.

Either way they are really good (shooting or cc) at focusing to kill that thing. But, they are not very durable, (except the air ships) so you can dominate if your opponent focuses those before your infantry. Once your infantry is gone though, you are basically nerfed.

Cool, cheers for the info. It looks like the Aether-Khemist is an important thing to bring along with the attack buff they give.

Having a good study of the book can give you an impression, but it's using them in practice that gives the best idea, naturally.

Grungsson's terrifying thing is his ability to get an entire wall of Arkanauts straight into combat; one hell of a Turn 1.
But it's like /old/ Hecarim: Runs really fast at you, which looks scary, but then doesn't do a tremendous amount once he's there.

Skywardens en-masse can be a fairly reliable damage source, but just a shame the sods are so pricey for 3.

Crux of it: Get a load of Arkanauts with Brokk, and get some floaty lads with grappling hooks to zip about focus-nailing targets that have been tarpitted.
And have yourself some Khemists to either make them Skyriggers hit harder, or the Arkanauts to actually do something other than being a wall of meat.
