Sorry if this question is often, I just am very confused about this, in the GW Age of Sigmar page and there are so many "factions" under the Orders, and I have heard each model has keywords, so does it work like 40k where all units in your army must have one common keyword?
Me and my friend are looking into getting Sigmar (I play 40k, they are completely new) and it just confused us so my apologies.

Not really. You can build an army of 'Grand Alliance' or just 'Alliance'.

In a Grand Alliance all the units must have a keyword of Destruction, Death, Order or Chaos.

In a standard Alliance you select an individual faction like Sylvaneth and the whole army needs to have the keyword Sylvaneth.

In both cases you have a certain amount of points you can spend on allies.

At least I think. People who play more can probably explain things better.

I believe if you pick a Grand Allegiance, then allies are irrelevant as you can pick any units from that Allegiance and can never take units from a different Allegiance.

If you pick an Alliance (Sotrmcast Eternals, Sylvaneth, etc) you have to take at least 80% of your force from that alliance, but you can take up to 20% as allies. Allies must be of the same Grand Allegiance from your main force and also each Alliance has a list of other Alliances you can ally with that you must stick to. So if you pick the Sylvaneth Alliance then they can only ally with Stormcast Eternals and Wanders.

The reason you'd pick an Alliance rather than a Grand Allegiance for your army, even though it heavily restricts what units you can take, is because you need to to access the Alliance special rules such as faction abilities and Battalions.

To take Sylvaneth as an example again, if you don't pick the Sylvaneth Alliance for your army then you don't get the free Wyldwood and your units can't teleport through Wyldwood, severely limiting the power and uniqueness of the army.

Also, bare in mind the new edition is due in June, which could turn all this on its head!

I would suggest waiting until the new edition drops before getting any allies. Its extremely possible that who can ally with who will be changed up a bit.

Easy to start with one allegiance, most important, what you like. Then, after the new edition comes at june, take addittion from allies.
