Looking at run a Chaos undivided/ general Chaos list for casual play. What should I look at getting first for a quick 1000 points?

The start collecting box is great for Slaves. I picked up two of them and an extra box of Warriors. I also strongly suggest a Warshrine.

Agreed. Two SC boxes plus an extra box of warriors and a warshrine will get you to right around 1500 points. You'll also have enough sprues for 4 10-man units of warriors...each SC box comes w/ 12 warriors (4x per sprue) and the box comes w/ 16. That'll hit your battleline requirements for a mixed chaos list and you'll be able to throw in whatever else you want.

I'm working on a StD army myself and am having a great time with it. So far I've completed (painted/based) the sorcerer lord, x10 marauders, and x5 warriors. Currently finishing up the other half of the warriors unit and am halfway done w/ 5 knights...assembled/painted/based the actual horses/legs of the rider, still need to assemble and finish up the upper body part.

Looking forward to the new edition coming out next month and hoping for some cool new stuff for StD.

I would suggest the same as the others
2 start collecting boxes then a shrine and a box of chaos warriors. Then it is worth deciding the god you want to go with and buy something in accordance (Bloodbound, Maggotkin, Arcanites) or if you want a pure Slaves to Darkness it could be fun to get the chaos lord on a demonic steed to get more worth from the 2 chariots and the 10 chaos knights you get from the 2 starter boxes.

And later on it is worth expanding into chosen, lords and exalted heroes to support your chaos warriors.

Cheers, mate. Yeah in my next list I chose Bloodbound because A ) Bloodstoker model is cheap on eBay and seems fun when used on the Warriors/Knights/Gore Chariot B ) I plan on running Chaos Undivided but I'd like to try out each of the gods and Khorne seemed the easiest to kind of splash in with no real extra cost.
