Got a new TV this week. Replacing my 10y old 42" LG.

It is a TCL P605 55" with 4k and UHD

So I was playimg around with it Wed night and wow.....tv's habe come a long friggin way!

I found out I can wirelessly cast my laptop display to the TV...pretry damn cool for general surfing!

My question is about gaming.

Is there a good way to setup such a TV to work better with games?

I know that the refresh rate of 120 for monitors/laptops is kimd of like the huge thing that makes them better than tv's.

But beyond that....any good advice?

I used an HDMI cord, and just messed wirh Skyrim SE for a bit.

It held steady right at 30 fps on High settings, and I do like how it looks....but hoping to get more out of it. Tried Ultra serrings and squeaked about 10 to 15..depending on movement (saw 9fps once)

Depends on the game, a lot of titles (for consoles) are 'locked' at 30 fps purely because the developer has decided that the game looks better that way.

If it's a PC then it'll pretty much run at whatever FPS your hardware will allow - the TV, while being 4k helps, doesn't really factor into your FPS like say a GPU/CPU would.

You mean purely because it was necessary to lock it at 30 to get a playable framerate on a console while still enabling all the graphical bells & whistles the advertising requires. The "cinematic" thing is garbage, if a game looks good at 30 it still looks good at 60 or 144, and it also plays better.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal

I have a Samsung 4K TV and my original Xbone looked great upscaled to 4K. I got an XboneX and it's even better, I don't know if it displays in true 4K but it's really crisp, like looking at a monitor. If your TV has a Game Mode, set it to that.. it will reduce your input lag a lot. Games are almost unplayable on the regular TV settings for me, I have to use game mode.

For a while I had my PC connected to my TV through an extra long HDMI cable, but for some reason I could only get it to display at 1080p and 30 fps not 60. I have a new-ish PC and a 1070 card. Still looked good, but I had to get rid of it, our new puppy decided the cable running along the wall was a new chew toy. Easier to get rid of it than yell No every 3 minutes.
