So if im to buy some rulebooks digital, where should I buy from? iTunes, Warhammer digital, forgeworld/GW webstore? Pros and cons of various stores?

I do use Apple so iTunes is an option, disregarding the horror of the iTunes application itself (really, iTunes makes me wanna kill myself sometimes...) if there is otherwise a pro to buying there im okay with it.

Its also sad I think that 40k hasnt gotten a superb fantastic app similar to the AoS app, with all scrolls rules and books available within.

iBooks for the enhanced digital editions, if you have a tablet to run them on.

Alrite, and what does an "enhanced digital edition" offer that a normal one doesnt? And how much more does these features gonna cost me?

I have my entire 8th ed book collection on my iPhone 8 Plus, all purchased from iBooks. The enhanced editions have more content and are somewhat easier to search than the regular digital publications. I prefer the enhanced versions, but they are more expensive.

I really like the enhanced editions of the rulebooks, codices, and supplements that are available on iBooks. So, I buy most of them from there.

Enhanced are the same price as their paper counterpart, usually, maybe rounded up to a whole pound, rather than xx.99p. Regular digital are around £5 less, but are a very non-user friendly pdf for the most part, in comparison to the touch to display pop ups of rules and inform the enhanced versions.

For the old editions, paper was my preference, but since points have been divorced from the unit listings, the enhanced editions are awesome - tap the unit role to see points, the war gear options for upgrade points, etc. And they get updated with Chapter Approved and the FAQs.

The enhanced version offers popups for rules text, weapon stats and points cost, i think its awesome. also even if it takes usually a few weeks the codices are slowly updated to include the latest faqs.

However the enhanced versions are ios/macos only, and there are some new errors introduced in the digital books, some of them being fixed after a long time or never.

On an ipad you can alos add your own notes to the enhanced books, but can't add notes to the epub3 versions in the ibooks app (but maybe with other apps).

Buy the epubs from warhammer digital to stay legal, then learn to convert them to PDF for personal usage so they are actually USABLE. None of the epub readers I have tried on PC, including the recommended Azardi, work whatsoever, mainly due to the fonts not decrypting properly (though that is fixable for codexes with Sigil).

AFAIK none of the digital editions have been updated with errata or typo fixes, and the epubs have a LOT of typos compared to the printed codexes, ranging from misformatted keywords (not that big a deal) to missing half of paragraphs (like the Dark Angel codex is).

By "digital editions" do you mean the epubs only or including the ibooks versions too?

The standard ibooks editions definitely have been updated to include the most recent FAQs and all the applicable changes in the Chapter Approved, only exception so far is the main rule book.

I mean the normal epubs from Warhammer Digital. Shame the iBooks don't work on proper devices.

I'd agree there, but there are 2 versions on the ibooks store, the Enhanced iBook version and the ePub3 version.

I guess its just that iBooks has a proper restricted distribution channel or something then, the non-Enhanced versions definitely get updated too, sounds like Warhammer Digital are being lazy.

My iBook codexes all auto update, all I need to do is hit the update button when notified. There can be delays, though, like last year when the iBook books were updated 3 months after the ePub books.
